The situation impacts a lot of people and their crops because if it gets too cold there will be crop damage. It can impact me because my family likes to drink orange juice and we buy it all the time. If the orange juice prices raise then we wont be buying anymore orange juice. My family always drinks it to start their day.

Orange Juice has to do alot with Econ because many people use the product.I predict a huge price increase because of "supply and demand".Many people won't be buying Orange Juice if the price reaches the predictions.

I think that this author is too concerned with how the Orange Juice price will impact the economy. Cold spells like this happen every two or three years, they are not all that uncommon. Orange Juice prices will probably rise a little in the coming months, but they always do this time of year.

Orange juice has to do with econ because "supply and demand" will be effected around the country. If oranges are your crop and its messing up then your whole way to get money is gone. This is really sad and the prices will go up. But i don't know how much it will effect the Other parts of the country other then prices will go up.

Orange Juice has a lot to do with the the supply and demand. Many people around the world use it. There will most likely be a rise in this product do to the cold whether but the prices would of went up anyway because they always do when it gets cold.

I think the orange juice has to be a lot with the economic because a lot people drink and use the product. An my opinion the price go up because the people who has to sale they has to up the price depend how the economic going. And if go be to cold the price will go up because product will be crop damage.

NRawlins.5 said...

When orange juice prices rise, most people will not buy as much orange juice as normal. It impacts families that use the product everyday. The companies eventually will stop growing as much oranges to make the juice if no one is buying their product.

Kjoseph5 said...

I had a feeling orange juice had to do with our econ. because people who have farms to make a living grow these things were drinking, eating. When it gets cold they have to make a living so the prices of these things go up.

M.Hackney5 said...

i think that crop is gonna have a much damage because of the weather an when that happen its gonna have a less chance of people buying orange juice for a while.

edwinb5 said...

If the Orange Juice price raises, more people will be not buying it as much as they used to. When it rises and people don't buy it, then the compony will have to fire a bunch of people. Just because the crops get damaged, it doesn't mean that they can make the people suffer for it.

Who would have ever thought that weather determined our prices..... better emphasized mother nature.Florida is witnessing the first cold front in a long time. Everyone knows that florida is not a cold place and it is where one well like product comes from, orange juice! meterologist say that they are pulling alnighter during this cold front to keep the fruit watered just so that it want freeze.... because they do the prices of orange juice and many other minute maid products would reach up to 5$ to 6$ a jug! that Crazzzzzy! Well you good men that are attending the crops... keep it up, I can't pay that much for no juice!

EnaRedzepagic said...

Its supply and demand. The price of orange juice has to go up the supply is low and the demand is high. It just goes to show the simplest things like orange juice can mean a lot to the economy and the people who struggle in it.

T.Chapman7 said...

i honestly don't believe that the prices in oj will be affected in any way. i say this because the article clearly stated that for prices to be affected 20% of the crops would have to be destroyed but with the weather only 5% to 10% will be destroyed if that so therefore i don't see a reason for all the concern!

Search said...

I would have to agree with T.Chapman7 the prices will not be affected. I think if people want their OJ they will get it. If it does get a little expensive it wont be by much. I mean I dont see them raising prices up more than a dollar or two. That would be rediculous spending 7 bucks on a gallon of OJ.. Then i believe noone would by it.

Adam™ said...

It's just oj. Yah a lot of people use this to start the day but they couldn't just find a substitute till price go down that's if they even rise. Like tchapman said it'll take 20% for prices to be affected when it states that only about 5-10% will be. They also mention in the article that even with the weather it wont be very severe. So if prices do rise just find a new drink an wait for prices to lower. They'll have to lower sooner or later.

RHerrera5 said...

Well i look at this like an issue , the cold weather because the crops that people grow get damaged during the winter time because of the cold weather going on. In the article the author said the prices would rise because they is not that much product, also because of the cold weather. I hope this wont effect other parts in the world, the prices going rising.

Well one thing that I noticed was how he said it reached the best sweetness... So to me that says they have not one but two reasons to up their prices. they are losing some crops (very minimal) but on top of that their O.J. is gonna be better than before

TWalters5 said...

I thought something like this might happen sooner or later. Oj is one thing people like the most. Some medications are made from oranges. Oj helps give people energy they need to use in the day. it is one of the few things that can give u a boost in flue season. plus the weathers is not on our side. the growing seasons are changing little by little causing trouble for a lot of people.

tdodson5 said...

>I think if the temperature keeps rising the way that it is that more and more crops will start to be damaged. If more of the crops start to be damaged its going to be a low supply of crops that we need. If there is a low amount of crops the company's are going to start selling things at a higher price because,it is very little of the product left. That can be a problem because, of the recession that were in with our economy right now.

awilliams5 said...

Yes, prices may raise and that's how our OJ will effect the economy. But honestly, i do not see the raise in price becoming too high. My family and i love orange juice.. but we have coupons for just about anything so we can deal with it.

AnthonyH said...

Orange Juice can have quite a major impact on the economy. First, the weather starts to kill off orange crops and the price of orange juice rises. Because of that rise more people will buy other, cheaper juices. And because of the time it would take to fix the orange crop damage, orange juice could see a long lasting scar, effecting juice companies and orange farmers alike.

ChinaMARi3 said...

The price of the orange juice may have went up because people purchase orange juice a lot and enjoy it. But since the people love it, farmers want to raise the price higher and make a lot of money off of it. Maybe even to grow more so they can sell more and get more money.

williamp said...

I'm surprised to hear that florida is being effected by the cold weather. If the prices of orange juice raises the economy will be further damaged than it already is . Many people will be upset by a price increase, gas is as much as we can handle.

sean kelsey 6 said...

juices helps but their sometimes we don't need juice. the crops is turning bad cause the farmers need there crops to be in good shape cause they need food for people in the united states. If we lose a lot of crops we wouldn't have that much food around the us. we would be here liven on the united states. The us would have bunch o iront everywhere.

Jovon6 said...

it's sad the oranges was frozen. 20% was mess up. when the oranges got frozen the oranges start costing more. but it's good they watching the oranges.

CRice7 said...

A lot of people buy orange juice. Anything sold and purchased has to do with the economy. The orange price of orange juice will rise in winter just like every other tropical fruit. They just aren't in season and we have to purchase them from somewhere. When it starts to warm up the price of juice will decrease once again.

NBogard said...

This affects the farmers in Florida because this almost all of the farmers products. If their crops are affected then it will be a major problem to them. It also makes all of us pay more for orange juice. Which is another problem to those companys.

Anonymous said...

Orange juice does have a lot to do with the economy in the way that it is connected to many people and businesses.. However i do agree with hannah, the oranges freezing is a constant in the past years at some point along with the prices of orange juice rising. We just have to "stick it out" like past years and watch as the orange business takes rises and falls like and other business especially in our flip flop economy.

Roof1619 said...

I dont think the price of orange juice will rice due to the cold weather. I do think that if there were a price rase though, many consumers would stop consuming the product as a weekly purchase. This would case that company to loose money and business.

Ari4 said...

Well.. The situation will impact many lives around America but there shouldn't be a very big problem with it. The weather effects many things in the world but we will get passed this situation and be alright as a country. But everyone had good thoughts about this topic.

DustinX4 said...

This change in weather sucks for crops yes, but I personally think the oranges will be fine and prices shouldn't rise too much. I am a big fan of OJ as well as others so this would effect me dearly. Although, if you look at the good in this it isn't a sign on global warming.

I just really think every things hard around this time because it gets colder and colder. Which like in this article the oranges are freezing which means less almost every thing that has to do with them. Which means the prices of the oranges or orange juice is going to start sky rocketing. Which is not going to be very good.

KC said...

Orange juice is good for the Econ because many people drink it and grow it so people can have it. If the price go up on the juice no one will buy and the framers will lose there profit.

jstreeter7 said...

Oranges have to do with Economics because with the oranges freezing. They are going to waste and farmers have to make a living and if the oranges are froze. There for if they don't have any oranges to sell they are missing out on money. And oranges and orange juice contains Vitamin C.

Whitney Patrick said...

I don't believe this will have an impact on anything to big. I mean after everything thats been going on with the economy and our nation. I think the prices of oranges should be the last thing we think about.

k.j.dennis.7 said...

This author is a little too overboard about the price. Yes, the prices of orange juice are high but it is winter and oranges are out of season and the oranges are in scarce supply. The prices of orange juice always goes up in the winter time. We go through cold spells every couple of years and prices increase for everything because the value of money also increases.

Anonymous said...

This will not really effect my house because we don't really buy orange juice. I doubt the prices will rise much though because only about 5% of the crop has been ruined thus far and 20% has to be ruined before the cost will really be effected.

alanh7 said...

This reminds me of the dust bowl where inevitable happenings of nature occur that hurt our economy. Although I myself dislike orange juice. I do like oranges themselves, and if they keep freezing, the price will, without a doubt, go up on fresh produce, too. Hopefully our oranges will not rise as much as petroleum has.

amber burns said...

Im not to sure on the chances of the prices of orange juice rising, but i am sure that my family does drink a lot of orange juice and if prices go expremly up then that will be changed. The price of orange juice has a major impact because if the price rises then a lot of people wont buy it, which is a big profit loss.

nsetters said...

Orange juice is a big part of the economy because a lot of people drink it, and with the prices going up because of the cold. It will force people to stop buying OJ. It will impact the economy greatly if we stop buying OJ. I hope we get pass this problem and the prices stay were they are, and everyone can continue to enjoy OJ.

a.nichole2010 said...

I feel that the situation with the cold damaging farmers citrus crops is going to effect the united states. Most people in America keep a jug of O,J in their fridge. With the cold spell damaging the crops It will effect the price of the juice And the people who drink may not even be able to buy the juice that they love

MCisco5 said...

This will hurt the supplys on oranges cause they will eather get damaged or die. So if the supplys of oranges go down then the prices will go up so if the prices go up then it will hurt people who buy a lot of oranges or need it. So it be a good idea if we could do something about it to help out all of it just so our supplys can stay up.

Yea this has become a problem. Oranges are getting ruined each winter because of the cold winters. Each year Global Warming is getting worse and worse, who knows how pollution will be in the next ten years. It might get so cold in Florida that oranges won't be able to be made all year long.

Jordan Groh said...

Orange juice is something that many people buy and that puts money into are economy. The south being cold will definately damage the oranges and because the supply will go down it will raise the prices. This will make people less likely to buy it because of the high prices.

Bailee™ said...

If temperature drops and crops are damaged more than just orange juice will increase. but many more people use this product on a daily basis, just because there used to drinking it. They choose to buy it but they don't have to. For example, people have to have milk, so even though the milk prices went up people still tend to buy milk. But in the future i do predict a big increase in the price of orange juice and such other products, but people wont buy orange juice when this price change does occur.

shawnpowell6 said...

Orange juice is a product an as a product it falls right on the lines of economics.... if the prices on Oj went up the demand would decrease by a few percent wont lose all sales but you would see a drop in your profit will not be as high as the last noted profit was........

tsteele5 said...

If the weather is nasty and your crops can't handle it then you are screwed. But who would have thought that oj had something to do with the economy. There you have it, I think that settles the thing about oj and the economy.

triley6 said...

The orange juice has Econ... Many people also use the product. I think orange juice is good because my family drinks orange juice.
