The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act seems like a pretty good idea with it increasing available positions in the AmeriCorps program from 75,000 to 250,000 by 2017. I also think that the "Summer of Service" program added by this act is a great way to get the youth, especially high- and middle-school students, involved in the community.
Wow this is a really good idea. But i do think that this act could really be unnecessary if we did these services on our own. There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to help out and make our country a better and healthier place to live. But this is good because it will encourage others to get involved.
I'm glad something is being done to get more people involved, and the idea of increasing the open positions from 75,000 to 250,000 is great! I can only hope some randomly bad thing happens to this act like has happened with many other "great" acts lately =/
The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act will be great! By increasing open positions by more than 100000, will help the unemployment rate/our economy! I have to admit I am not as involved in the community as i should be and by the "summer service" program youth such as myself can be more involved!!
The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act is an excellent idea. It might motivate Americans to help out in their communities like they should be doing. I really don't volunteer but everyone should.
This act is aimed at getting people to volunteer by offering incentives to those who volunteer the most. The incentive part I feel is unnecessary because that's not what volunteering is about. The Act in itself however is a great idea. It shows that America needs helpers and that the government can't do it alone.
Seems kind of ironic that we have to give incentives to volunteer but if it helps get more people out there to help then I'm for it! Personally NHS is my only incentive.
this is an awesome way to get people invovled in todays society people are so self absorbed that they dont see that people around them need help. i hopefully it acually works. i would love it : )
The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act seems like a great way to get Americans to work together to help our country. But offering incentives for volunteer work is not good. Volunteer work is something that people do for only the satisfaction of doing it, offering incentives only takes away from that great feeling.
THis is good, more people are going to get involed in such eventidea of increasing the open positions from 75,000 to 250,000 is excellent. People should be glad to help our community in this way
I think this is a good idea in a way. I mean they really shouldn't have to make an act and try to reward people to clean up and help our country. People should want to do that. think this act could be prevented if people would be more willing and helping!!!!

I truly agree on this article to put volunteering into the curriculum. I am an active volunteer around the community and i think this will not only have teens like me to continue to volunteer, but also encourage more to start. It would help our communities improve so much.
I think this is really good for the people. This program has grown from 75,000 to 250,000. That is very high good thing for the Edward M Kennedy serve act.
I think this is a great idea. I would love to join AmeriCorps or PeaceCorps someday just for the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you help people. Right now the only volunteer work I'm involved in are menial jobs like helping run middle school track meets. Volunteering for programs like these actually makes a difference.
I Dont Think It Is Necessary To Have An Act For People Cleaning Up Our Country. That Should Be Something Everyone Should Do Without Being Rewarded. But Its A Good Thing Cause It Will Encourage Others To Get More Involved To Keep America Clean.
If we give incentives for community service than is anyone truly "volunteering"? No, but this sounds like a great plan- an American plan in fact. I say that because like usual, are throwing money at our problems. Seriously though, I like the plan. I second Dylan on the NHS thing as well.

this is a good way to get people involved. Even though they should already be without a incentive like boyce said but its good i guess
I think this act is a good way to get people involed around the country is a good thing. it also provides some jobs so that is also helpful

I think this is really good for people. people need to help out as much as they can. i do think its weird that people need incentives to volunteer.
