I think that the idea to set up a fund for those who have become unemployed to go back to school to become skilled in another area. The only thing this article left me wondering is where will the money for the stimulus plan come from? Because, although it is a fantastic idea... if the money is going to become part of the tax hike, I don't think the general public will agree with it. I hope that all turns out well, and this plan will be a success in helping people get new jobs. :]

I think its good Bob casey is taking control and trying to help the unemployment situation. But I hope his plan consist of a good financial plan. Sending these people to college for free, has to cost some one money. I hope this does work out for the Casey and all the unemployed, and helps them work again. I just hope Casey can come up with a safe financial way to do this.

i dont think this bill should go into affect because those people that are unemployed shouldve went to college right after high school. even if it did go into affect, everyone would be skilled at the same job and would still be fighting to be employed. just because someone is unemployed i dont think they should get a free ride at a community college.

it is good that someone is finally starting to try to help the unemployment problem. but if the people cant find the job to start with its not really going to help. they have to learn the new skill and then find the job that isnt there. its going to be hard

I love the idea of helping more people back to school, but where will the money to fund this come from? I can't see the public agreeing to pay more taxes (although you wouldn't think alot of people would complain) It's for an important cause that could help our nation so I'm hoping people will help this go through.

I think this bill should go into effect because when you are young sometimes you do not realize that you are missing out on a great opportunity by not attending college and people should get second chances. I just feel that if the money is going to go into the increasing taxes, even though people need the bill their not gonna vote on it! :(

I am really hoping this bill passes. When my mom had to go back to college so she could be a nurse and support us four kids i know it really would have helped! I just see that even though Bob casey is trying to help many people wont vote for it because it is going to become a big part of the tax hike!

Regarding what Rob said, not everyone has the advantages to go to college right after high school. Some people look at the unemployed as being lazy or ignorant for not getting a good job, but sometimes personal situations come up. For example,, one might have to take care of their family or sick loved one.
aS for paying for this, well citizens probably won't wanna pay the taxes. We all know how the levy went around here a couple years ago...:/

I think that Bob Casey has a good idea to pay community colleges a $1,000 per student to retrain workers that have been laid off. Some of these workers that have been laid off did go to college after high school and need to be retrained to be able to get a job. People may not vote for it but it is still worth a try if it means helping the unemployment problem a little bit.

i think that fund could possibly help out. if unemployed people go to college then they could get jobs and help out the economy. the only thing that i don't like is that if it is free then where is the money coming from? college is expensive and these people are getting for free.

I believe in second chances. And im glad someone is trying to help the unemployment situation. However there are way too many negative effects that will come up if this bill does come in effect. and in the long run I dont think it will make a big difference, and it might even make more of a problem.

I believe that this bill should go into affect, that way many americans can go back into a better field that they can enjoy. many people didnt have the time or money to go to college right out of high school, so they just settled now. this bill is very debatable though. either way i dont think it will get passed b/c of tax issues

I think that people who have been laid off due to the recession should have the opportunity to get there job back, or get a new job. I do not however think that people who never even tried to make anything of themselves should get to go to college for free. Why wouldn't that money be used to send students who actually want to go to college instead of people who decide to go when they are like 30 years old.

i think this is a good idea, because of giving people a second chance. But however i doubt if it would go into effect because of our money issue. If it do Great!

I am glad an idea to help unemployment has come. The idea is possible to help unemployed people. But this would cost a lot of expenses. I would tell this to people I know who are unemployed. Im sure they would happy to hear this.

I think by this bill passing that it would help alot of people. I think everyone deserves a second chance of making something of their self. I hope this bill will eventually pass but it is doubtful because people are so concerened of their taxes. Bob Casey is doing a good thing for many people. But on second hand, this money could be used for other generations and people just starting college.

i agree with the majority that its great to help people in need, including getting them into some form of a classroom. but at the same time im a little mad at the ones who need the help, going to college these days isnt hard. there are THOUSANDS of scholarships out there for people of every race, up bringing, sex, community. i also feel some ahve too much pride to take a year off school, raise money, then go to college. far too many people have too much pride to flip burgers for minimum wage, some is greater than none.

I don't really care where they say the money is coming from. That sounds like a lot of money that we don't have, and a lot of time that isn't really going to be available. I mean, I see both sides. Its awesome that they want people to go to college and learn how to do more advanced jobs and stuff, but at the same time, there are other things that need done.

Alot of people that are unemployed will be glad to hear about this but people have to get up an find a job, they can not just sit around an wait till someone gives them a job offer.

I'm going to be honest. It seems like a waste of money to do this. I see where it works out to those who do not have the money to go to college, and are unemployed, but a lot of the unemployed are just lazy. So, like maria said, there are other things that could be done with this money.

I feel very bad for all the unemployed but times are tough for everyone and we shouldn't waste money to train people who should have already gone to college. People need to take responsibility for themselves and their own education. I hope this bill doesn't get passed.

This is a good step for laid off workers. It can give them the motivation to learn more skills. Not too many people can get a second chance like that. The only drawback is that it seems like it will cost a lot of money.

Good Idea! But Where Is The Money Coming From We Are In Debt As It Is. I Hope That This Turns Out Well Though Because It Seems Like Something That Could Help Alot Of People.

Ravyn Hunter(: said...

I believe this is one of the best ideas. But where would the money come from? W/ our country's debt. I dont see this as a possibility.

I like this bill because it helps the people that have been laid off and have nothing else to look to. On the other hand I don't think this bill will pass because people don't want high taxes including the unemployed people.

I think that all of these people who lost their jobs should be able to get them back. I don't think that they should be able to go to college for free though! People make decisions after high school. By then, you should be smart enough to know to go to college, or to work to save up for college. Many people end up having to work very hard for college tuition, and I don't think it should just be handed to some people who haven't even tried to make a good life for themselves.

i think this is kinda a rediculous idea.i mean its nice to think that we can just retrain people. but people shoudnt get jobs that can be wiped out. i mean find a job in something stable. also the the ones who already have those jobs are going to be fighting the retrainee's. this is just going to go full circle and be the same issue as before.

Great idea, but like most great ideas it's a utopian idea. There are just too many little details that would derail this proposal and some large details as well. This does, at least, offer a starting point for ideas concerning the problem with unemployment.
