there are a trillion articles on the number trillion. i cant believe that if we spent a million dollors a day since jesus was born it still wouldnt be a trillion. i think its true though that America is desensitized to huge amounts of money. it just seems these days that how much money has to be spent in order to do anything.
1,000,000,000,000.

It's crazy that if someone were to spend a million dollars a day since Jesus was born, it still would not add up to a trillion dollars. It's even more crazy that our national debt right now is at $10 trillion. Wow that's a lot of money! It's hard to put into perspective what a large number that is.

What I thought was interesting was that if one trillion $1 bills were stacked up they would extend one third of the distance from the Earth to the moon. Also, it's pretty insane that we are topping $10 trilion in debt, with a $700 billion bank rescue and an $800 billion-plus stimulus package to go along with it. I guess we are numb to the numbers.

I believe it is interesting how in this article makes the reader think about how big a trillion dollar can be. weather it would be 32,000 years third of the way to the moon if stacked up, a 1 with 12 zero behind it. Funny, because, a trillion is a BIG deal the article states that The United States is in a debt of not 1 trillion but 10 TRILLION dollars. I just thought it was interesting how this article makes a trillion dollars seem like a big deal and only mentions 10 trillion dollars that the US owes like nothing. At the same time its good that they explain like a BIG deal so that people can see how in debt the US really is.

The United States has always been known to throw money around. I doubt they will ever consider the deep hole they have dug themselves (the national debt). They look past the money they owe because it is too great. And when they try and fix it they just make it worse. There might as well be no nation dedt.

Its weird to think that if you spent million dollars a day since jesus was born you wouldnt get a trillion dollars but our national debt is $10 trillion. Also like corey said it's interesting that if one trillion $1 bills were stacked up they would extend 1/3 of the distance from the earth to the moon.

I've heard the word trillion being thrown around, like it was nothing. I guess I too thought it was no big deal. I figured someone, some famous celebrity or something could have that kind of money. But it shocked me that a trillion seconds would be 32,000 years, and if you spent a million dollars ever since Jesus was born, you still wouldn't have spent a trillion dollars. Gee. So yeah. Maybe we should try getting out of that national debt of ours. Maybe in 32,000 years or so...

I think it's crazy that if you had a trillion dollars and you spent a million since the day Jesus was born you still wouldn't run out of money. The United States is very deep in debt, I can't imagine having 1 trillion let alone ten trillion.

To think even if you had a trillion dollars it would be basically impossible to spend it all in one life time.

Well i could not even imagine haveing a trillion dollars, and i could not even begin to think of how i would spend it. i just think its crazy that if you have spent a millions dollars a day sense jesus was born you would still have money.I dont think we will ever get out of debt.

I am really surprised that we are in debt at $10 trillion and if we spent a million dollars a day since jesus was born, it wouldnt be a trillion!! Imagine that. It would take many many many years to pay all that debt. And if i have a trillion dollars, I would probably buy a country of my own and live there by myself ha ha

The article really preaches the importance of our current economic situation. A trillion dollars is quite a lot. A lot more than it should be and more than we will ever pay back. But in the end it is just a number. We must look at what we can do and not at what we can't. While $1,000,000,000,000 is an outrageous number we must still attack it the same as if it were only $1,000,000,000.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that we are $10 trillion dollars in debt. I don't even know what to say to that. I just shook my head at the computer. And the best part is, we're never ever going to get out of that. It's just going to keep getting bigger and bigger. In 50 years, we'll be saying 'Have fun future generations! Here's our $982734987235 trillion dollar debt!'

Its also still crazy about the whole jesus an 1 millions a day thing but 1 trillion dollars is a lot of money to spend.

Wow! That is alot of money, and to think we are $10 trillion in debt is just crazy. A million dollars a day and we still wouldnt have spant that much? That is too much debt to have.

I can't really imagine what it would be like to have spent a billion dollars let alone 10 trillion dollars! I also thought the fact about that if we spent a million dollars a day since jesus was born it still wouldnt be a trillion is pretty crazy.

We have definately desesitized huge amounts of money. But is it really that hard to believe our national debt? Who wouldnt be in debt like us while passing bills for 819 billion dollars and running a two front war and supporting every stray country who comes along not to mention all the illegal immigrants that we "have"to support.

I think that it's crazy how much a trillion really is. The part that really got me is how tall a trillion dollars would be if you stacked all of the ones up.

I really don't see how we can be 10 trillion dollars in debt but then again I could. We have made many mistakes as a country and we haven't been able to figure out an answer. I really hope we do find an answer soon because I think our debt will eventually come back to haunt us.

The distance of 68,000 miles is ridiculous. The fact that a trillion seconds is 32,000 years is phenomenal to me. A trillion dollars let alone ten trillion dollars is an unreasonable amount of debt.

A trillion is a huge number, however, 10 trillion is even bigger. Of course people will become desensitized because once a number reaches a certain point the sheer amount becomes ungraspable. There is only so much gasoline you can throw on a fire before it becomes an inferno, and if we haven't reached that point already than we need to take some serious action to at least stop the problem from growing any further.

I look through all the comments and it seems like everyone go annoyed with the word trillion =]

Anyways, this article just shows how serious it really is getting here, and how hard we all need to work to get the problem fixed.

OMG! A trillion do you realize how much money that is. Wait do you know how far that would stretch too. And we are 10 trillion dollars in debt make this world very hard to understand. It just makes no sense or nothing.

ellie said...

One trillion dollars is so much money. And to think that the U.S. is in debt by 10 trillion is ridiculous and seems impossible. I'm not sure if they'll ever be able to fix it with is being so much.

Stephanie said...

10 trillion dollars in debt!? Its so crazy that were that much in debt we couldnt even spend that much if we spent a million dollars a day since jesus was born!?

Tyler Baker said...

Thats ridiculous that inflation is that bad there that they actually need a trillion dollar bill. I hope our countries inflation never gets that bad. But with the way that the economy and everything else is going now who knows.

Jake Wilson said...

Just paying the interest rate on a trillion dollars is a hefty task in itself, but we are growing increasingly numb to the amount of money it takes to run the world and no matter who is in charge that is a bad thing.

Megan A said...

I don't understand how the U.S. let us go into that big of a debt. 7 trillion. Maybe if this article was around when we realized we were a trillion dollars in debt, we wouldn't be in this situation.

This is alot of money we are talking about. thinking of how past presidents were denied only fractions of that ammount of money it's pretty scary to realize our current president is spening alot more.

JChrobak said...

wow 1,000,000,000,000. not many ppl think about how big that number is untill it shows up in money. not to mention if someone spent a dollar a day since jesus was born, they would still be short of this amount. this would raise inflation though "the roofs"
