It's pretty amazing to think that even those celebrities racking millions of dollars a year are hit below the belt with this recession too. I guess I never thought it affected them. So they can't wear that "bling bling" as much, well still, pretty sure the average American is suffering more so. Even so, obviously our economy is declining. Oh no, no more rap. Shucks. ;)

i like the simpler rapper styles. half of what they usually get paid doesnt seem lke they lost that much to us, but to them they are probably upset too. i think the less bling will also make it easier for normal people. everyone is having to give up something for the recession.

It seems as though the recession can change people in a positive way. For instance, how many of the rappers are now realizing that they cannot just go out and waste money on expensive cars and jewelery, that they need to spend money wisely. It has also made them want to write songs about the recession which is good! Sure they may be falling in record sales, but I believe that once they begin to mature then they will inspire more kids to do just that.

I think that in a way it does. The reason for this is because most rappers and hip hop singers, go spent their mony to thing that they don really need.Rappers also gets paid so much mony to preform a certain amount of songs in front of an audience. Leaving with that said, the answer is that they have alot to do with recession

The recession is affecting everyone, it might not be as obvious now, but according to this article it's going to become more obvious. From the way people dress to what people write songs about today. When I think about the recession, I always figured anyone who is making a lot of money won't be affected by it. But I guess the recession affects people both good and bad, less "bling" more songs that actually have a meaning to them.

Yes everyone will be affected by the recession. But if people like Diddy, Snoop Dogg, and Usher are gonna complain, they are ridiculous. So what they might not make there next album platinum and they wont wear a fist full of diamonds. but they are well off. The only effect i can see being dramatic is not having many new artists out because they dont want to spend the money on someone they are completly sure of.

The Main Thing With This Whole Situation Is That They Are Not Using Their Money Wisely. They Tend To Spend It On All The Fancy Stuff, Instead Of Things They Really Need. But I Did Not Know That Celebrities Were Also Getting Hit By Reccession,You Wouldn't Think That Cause They Get So Much Money. But I Guess Things Can Be Decieving.

Not only do I think it is nicer to see more conservative styles in rappers, I also like the image they present. Efficient management of your income. A lesson we could all learn. As we approach even tougher economic times it is essential that we all look carefully at our budgets, yes even those of us who pull $80,000 a track.

I don't really care about this article. I'm not a fan of rap and I'm sick of hearing about the recession.

Wow!!!! Even the big stars we look up to wishing we had what they have when we are at our lowest points, are going through hard times! I think now that we are going through this recession, the artist are thinking smart and cutting back is a good idea. I also believe that with them fearing their fans won't be interested in their entertainment anymore, they are coming out with music that actually is saying something and not have us just listening to the beat thinking its a great hit!!!! Yes, this recession is taking a toll on EVERYONE, but I think it's good to know this is making artist realize they need a change in their music!

I'm actually pretty glad that the rappers are being affected like the rest of the world. Granted, they aren't struggling to put food on the table, they're struggling to my new gold chains, but we are all in the same boat here. I highly doubt that anybody is 'recession-proof', as some of these rappers think they are. They're the ones that are gonna get smacked when they don't have the money to buy the next gold chain.

I never really realized how celebrities were hit by our economy. But it is pretty obvious that they would have pay cuts and everything like "normal" people. It's still sad to see people have trouble making ends meet, but it kind of makes us realize that they are real people. I think it is kind of a "reality check" for the celebrities, to bring them down from their "celebrity high".

Even though these people are making a ton of money a year they have to learn how to spend wisely now too. Thay cant just go around buying whatever they want anymore. Hopefully it will change their image from rich guys with too much jewelry to something more like the average person.

Rappers shouldn't be complaining about making $35,000 a song. That's more money than some people make in a whole year. Although they might not be making as much money as before the recession, I think they are still pretty well off. Maybe rappers should spend their money more wisely anyway and not spend it all on "bling."

I never wnna see people losing money but the fact is people dont have the money to buy the music anymore. I mean they really cant complain about making so much money ya know. Not everyone is as lucky as them/

Corey Bush said...

I am not particularly interested in the article because rap in my perspective is worth about the same as a used diaper to me. So what if rappers are projected to make half of what they used to make.

Hmcintosh said...

I never would have though that famous rappers would get hit by the recession. I guess to me $35,000 is a lot of money for a song, but for a rapper they're used to way more. Maybe this recession is teaching the rappers to spend their money more wisely.

JoeyR said...

Well I think it's absolutely ridiculous that people who have millions of dollars could possibly complain about not being able to spend as much on luxury items. They really need to take a look at how hard these times are for most Americans. but maybe since this has caused a decline in new artists the world will get lucky and rap music will decline also.

Farzana said...

I didnt even realize that this recession would affect the celebrities since the have millions of dollars. Atleast they are realizing that they need to spend their money wisely instead of buying dumb things that have no use or that they dont need

finally! i think its time that celebrities notice that they can't just waste money endlessly on things that are not necessary to them. i think that this recession can teach celebs. a lesson on how to manage their money in more postive ways. its also good to see that the recession is not effecting us only but every one, because it makes everyone work harder to want to come out of the hole we are in.

Everyone is affected by recessions, even celebrities. Though, I don't think any of them will be forced to leave their mansions for cardboard boxes on the street. Personally, I'm more concerned about the people struggling to make ends meet as opposed to the those who can no longer afford $20,000 worth of diamonds in their grills. (oh how will they survive!?!)

I think that it't pretty crazy that even the recession is hurting the celebrities. I think most people don't think it will hurt them and im surprised that it is too. Maybe this will teach the celebrities how to be a little bit more careful with the way the spend there money because they now know that they don't have unlimited money like they thought they had.

Lorena said...

That's absolutely normal. its not only us who should experience what's going on with today's economy. Everyone lives at the same country, so everyone should be affected. i just hope my favorite hip hop singers/rappers would still keep making great songs.

Hannah Sue said...

I guess I thought only the recession was affecting the lower middle class. I didnt realize it was affecting even the biggest celebrities! Well, while it is a hardship and suffering for some, it seems like a lesson to them. Now maybe they wont just go out and waste millions on "bling"!

Dalelonda said...

I think its a good thing that rappers are getting hit with this recession. I mean who really needs all that stuff anyways. They need to spend their money on better and more important things.

CJohnson said...

Even hip hop stars have to deal with the recession. Its crazy to think that even though they make so much money they will still have to cut back on all the good stuff they buy because the economy is bad. They have to go through what everybody else has to go through just not as bad. I guess it could be good because they wont spend their money on stupid stuff.

DanTheMan said...

I'm not the biggest fan of rap/R&B so i'm not exactly sad =]

But on the other hand it must be scary for some people to watch their idols that they want to grow up to be slowly get hurt from the recession.

ellie said...

The recession will have and affect on everyone for sure. All of these celebrities driving around in their expensive cars and just throwing money pretty much in the garbage, won't be able to anymore. I'm sure they won't be suffering as much as the average citizen, but they'll have to make some sacrifices too.

MLemmert said...

I think its crazy that even celebrities are being affected by the recession. I also believe it is a good thing because even though they make tons of money they are now having to watch how they spend it and cut back on things like everybody else in America.

Megan A said...

It's a little pathetic that hip hop artists are complaining, but it's their lifestyle, and they were used to being able to wear and do all the things they used to do. Everyone has to cut back, and it doesn't always have to be a negative thing.

Austin Georgia said...

I think that Hip Hop artists need to be aware of the recession just like everyone else. People seeing rappers affected by this recession will lighten up their view and realize that anyone can be hit.

JChrobak said...

I under stand how the recession is hurting everyone but maybe they should of concerned their money on things they needed like the everyday average folk. instead of buying 10 cars at each of their 3 mansions

Jake Wilson said...

Maybe being a little bit more conservative will help them in the long run so they don't end up like MC Hammer.
