Is This A Good Idea?
CNN Reports: Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.
"I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that downpayment on their first home," she said.
Clinton said such an account program would help Americans get back to the tradition of savings that she remembers as a child, and has become harder to accomplish in the face of rising college and housing costs.
Role of Government. Economic Goals. Savings and Investments.
What do you think on this one folks?

I think its wonderful but I dont think that everyone will support it. as we know democrats are mostly suporting middle and lower class families and for them I think that program will be very helpful. but on the other hand some people might think that we should spend that money on something else and that everyone has to take care of themselves.
well... dont know.. I think its a cool idea to help people because there are a lot of people who cant afford to go to college and a lot of other things.. everything will depend on how big the effect of those expenses will be on the budget. if they will have something more "important" to do, then I dont think this will come true.
P.S. before elections everyone says all the good stuff, but the question is will Hilary Clinton keep her promise.
I think it's a good idea and would solve a lot of problems for less fortunate families or families with more kids to send to college. But where would the money come from? I don't see how we can give $5,000 to each child without any negative monetary effects on our nation.

I think its a good idea to try to help kids with their financial needs when they turn 18, but i think there needs to be more to it than just giving every baby thats born $5,000. Sadly i think the reality of it is, if ever kid gets access to the $5,000 when they turn 18, i do not believe that all the money will be used for say college, or a down payment, or a car. so I think their need to be some more guidlines so to say for this program. but it is a good idea.
I believe this is a great idea. When looking for a college I will it admit the price is a big deal, but if this became in effect, children in the future wouldn't even have to worry about that. David C. is also right about if Clinton will even keep her promise once in office.
I'm sorry to say, but you all are wrong. It is a terrible idea that Democrats are using for campaigning purposes. I don't feel like writing and explaining, so argue with me in person if you really think anything good can come out of this.
