I believe that our economy will gradually improve over the course of this year. It doesn't really surprise me that the unemployment rates will remain unchanged, but it is somewhat surprising that prices may increase (even if it is only 5%). Middletown is making steady efforts to improve our community with renovations in schools and other community buildings. I hope that our community will continue to grow to be more prosperous and an overall better town.

Businesses are seeing a rise in profits and Inflation isn't that bad according to the article. Middletown stores are recovering and beginning to sell some products that they had dropped because of the poor economy.

it seems as if possibly middletowns economy could be on the rise and inflation is decreasing.i honestly think that middletown could go up a lot more if "useful" stores were put into the mall. people are constantly traveling out of middletown to shop and do other things. it might be a risk for the companys but if they brought the stores here and put them in the mall then middletonians wouldnt be going to monroe and dayton every weekend to feed those businesses money they would be feeding it right back to middletown

THe businesses are seeing a rise in profits, and inflation is staying tame. I haven't really noticed a change in Middletown that supports this, but then again I'm not really looking for it, I'm too busy with homework and scholarships.

I believe that our economy is not on the rise. I strongly disagree that the economy in middletown is on the rise. Nothing about Middletown shows that we are on the rise if anything we are on and have been on a steady decline for many years. You can see that decline if you walk around Middletown or if you spend 10 minutes in the Town Mall it becomes very visible that MIddletown is on a down ward spiral.

Slowly, the economy has improved in our city. PRices are rising, but people can now afford to buy the goods and services. sadly, the salaries of the families haven't raised that much. If we're lucky, the economy will continue to improve for the better of the whole nation and percentages continue to rise. Only time will tell what will happen with our economy.

I believe that our economy will slowly improve over the next 10 years but not by much. I believe that the insufficient economies in Europe do have a major impact on the American economy which will not help us improve. But I believe that even though that the US economy is going through bad times, I think it is no excuse that Middletown should not make better efforts to improve our community and make renovations to our schools and buildings because I think our school board and city council is not doing enough to make improvements.

I do not believe that the economy will improve. Gas prices are supposed to be rising to over $4 a gallon by the summer. I don't think that shows much improvement. Unemployment is still at a very high rate and even if it is improving it is at such a slow rate, it's hard to even notice the improvement. I hope that the economy will improve, but I don't think it will for now.

According to this article businesses are seeing a rise in profits and inflation isn't bad. I believe that Middletown will get better over the years, but now it isn't doing too well. The unemployment rate is bad right now, but i believe it will slowly go up.

I do not believe our economy will improve or at least not for a long time. I believe that things will have to get worse for them to get better and I do not believe we have seen the worst yet. I believe that if people want the economy to improve then they need to work harder themselves to change things because it will not just change on its own. If more people work harder, more things will get done and there will most likely be less unemployment. I believe that unemployment is low because the last generation of people decided to be lazy. Almost every 20-30 year old I know is either lazy or on drugs and chooses not to have a job, or to live off the government.

Tiffani Smallwood said...

Two improvements of the economy are a rise in inflation and a rise in GDP. I think that our economy will gradually improve just like it says in the article. Middletown is slowly getting better by the year by having the community being improved for the better.

Matt Current P1 said...

I think that the economy is going to get better soon. It is just the business cycles of capitalism that we all have to suffer for every now and then. Businesses from the article are saying that the businesses are still gaining money slowly, but are no longer losing money.

i can see a better change in the economy of Middletown, but honestly i think that middletown is a dead beat town and only the residents could find any fun in it and on top of that alot of businesses are still becoming broke and going out of business, but its not as bad as it was and there is inprovement

Candace Lamb said...

I think that Middletowns economy will not increase I believe as a small town we need to all get more involved and make this town more....fresh. Our town has not has many projects lately to build newer and better buildings which I believe is the reason Middletown is in such a bad state right now. If Middletown would try to remodle more older buildings and take down (mall) that is wasting my parents money to pay for, Middletowns economy could rise and rise very very high.

Kyle Pheanis said...

In the article it states that in a survery 80% of companies say they have unchanged or rising sales and profit margins which means comapanies are still making money. Another imporvement is that their is few inflationary or deflationary pressures. I belive that Middletown has a lot to improve on but i do believe we can get out of this. I see that the fast food district has grown a lot while growing up here.

Alisha Ferguson said...

our economy is slowly rising but i think it will be a while untill iits fully recovered if that. bussinesses are seeing their profits go up which is good and i dont think middletowns economy is getting a lot better

BrittanyButler1 said...

The article supports the idea that inflation rates are slowly starting to lower and that profits are high right now. In Middletown right now I do not see this in effect because during the recession we were hit hard. In order to prosper and get our city back to how it used to be we need to take a risk and bring back stores into our mall, or even build a newer one instead of traveling 10-15 minutes away to one we could have one right at home.

JacobRiceperiod1 said...

Middletown's economy has been quite rough over the past few years. In the future I only see a little change happening. The city is trying to get downtown Middletown to its once glorious self and to bring people into the city and see how wonderful it is.... two things that are improving from the article are that companies are making profits and inflation is going down.

macyfaulkner1 said...

In my opinion the economy in Middletown has stayed the same. There are no new businesses here at all. However, the economy in Ohio has improved. This is shown in the drop in the unemloyment rate in Ohio by one percentage point. I think the economy in America will get better but it will take some time.

bhickman1 said...

I believe that our economy will slowly but surely rise but middletown might be a different story than the rest of the country. The U.S is coming out of the second grestest depression ever and it needs time to gradually improve after the big hit it took. Obama has raised the amount of jobs 3 million since he took office, that alone will raise an economy. Middletown is a dying town, one of the fastest matter of fact. I dont think there is any hope for it to improve to meet the standards it should.

Two improvements of the economy according to the article is fewer inflationary and deflationary pressures and businesses are seeing a rise in profits. I do believe the economy is slowly getting better, but it make take some time before everyone really witnesses it. In my household alone I can tell the economy is getting better because my dad has been working a lot more lately.

Cameron Everage prd1 said...

The article shows us that the economy is on the upswing. The article gives two good reasons why the economy is coming back; sales profit margins are going up, and unemployment has stopped dropping. These effects can be seen here in Middletown. Many stores are able to slightly increase the prices of goods slightly due to consumers increased willingness to spend, thus increaseing profit margins. Also Many stores have begun hiring again and more importantly stoped firing!

CaseyMays08 said...

I believe that our economy will improve someday, but it will definitely take time before we start seeing changes. I do see Middletowns economy starting to improve, because businesses are starting to improve, our community is getting more involved, and our schools are improving. Hopefully our community will continue to make changes as well as our economy.

kristen larson said...

i believe everything will get a little worse the gradually improve but i think the economy will always rise then fall because it never stays really good or really bad. so i think middletown will get better eventually as will everywhere else. gas prices will also rise and fall in prices over the years

Businesses have rising profits and the GDP is rising by up to two percent. I have seen very little change in Middletown partially because Middletown does not have much industry anyway. Overall, I believe the economy is improving but the economy will not have a full rebound until congress can work together and actually get some bills passed.

SHowarth per.2 said...

Two improvements in the economy are that businesses are beginning to sell more and make more profits, and the inflation rate is is tame. I think the economy will stay just about the same in Middletown because Many people that I know that are unemployed have been unemployed for a while, and it is getting even more difficult to find a job.

mchristianson said...

I do believe that our economy is slowly improving but it's going to take a while, we can't expect it to be perfect immediately. Hopefully, Middletown can gradually improve back to the thriving city it used to be. The country as a whole is complete different story though, it will probably improve quicker. The unemployment rates will go down if people want to do something about it. There are people that want to work no matter what and there are people that are lazy. If people want change they need to act on it.

I think that our economy will improve over the year. I think middletown will improve. This city has closed a lot of buildings, housing, and our mall is well on it's way of being closed. We need to put more useful sources in the mall & use the foreclosed houses, just put things to better use. I hope that we can do that and I hope this community grows.

jacob globke p1 said...

our economy is definitely not on the rise. it has been going downhill for the past few years. its a fast dying city where the economy is going nowhere but down.it may improve in the future but not any time soon unless something is down to improve it.

Katy Faulkner said...

The article states that profits are rising and that inflation is remaining constant. These are changes that will improve the economy, but very slowly. I can see how Middletown is changing, or at least trying to. However, I don't see any major changes for us in the near future.

baileyjohnston2 said...

I do believe our economy will slowly get better this year even with all the price changes and unemployment remaining the same. Middletown is a dying city and I believe if we put more effort into projects and renovations, the city would be better off.

Aidan2 said...

I think that the economy will slowly but surely get better. A lot of things in life get worse before they get better. Middletown may be down right now but it will rise again. Same with the rest of the country. We just need to learn to know how to use and get more useful businesses to get our town going again.

Joe Lietz said...

I think our economy will improve more than it has been in recent years. The unemployment rate remaining over the next few years does not suprise me at all. I am kinda suprised that the prices will increase. The city of Middletown is making a major effort to improve our schools and important city buildings. I think somewhere in the near future Middletown will be a much better town and hopefully big business will come back as well.

Ravensimmonspd1 said...

GDP is is up at 2 percent and is still slowly growing, and inflation seems to be under control. I'm not exactly sure if the Middletown economy is getting better. Looking at the entire country as a whole, there seems to be a lighter tone and more optimism in citizen's thoughts about the national economy, so I believe the national economy is on a slow to moderate rise, Middletown's economy is on a very slow rise. But, it's better to go up than down.

I'm not sure if the economy will gradually become better this year, but it did last year. But if unemployment rates stay the same then it doesn't really make sense how the economy will go up? In order to improve the economy there has to be more jobs for people. In Middletown I feel like no one is really trying to help the economy anymore because hardly any jobs ever hire more people. Yes, there was a good amount of jobs offered last year but those people who didn't get a job are still searching and I know many people who actually live in Middletown that work in another city because they have applied to so many places and they don't hear anything back. Hopefully the economy will change this year, but I'm not so sure about Middletown's situation.

A. Wright Per 1 said...

I see the economy rising throughout the year. it might not be one of the best economies in the world but we are gradually picking up pace from where we we're before the recession. we need to encourage more business in middletown instead of driving half an hour for a decent mall for example.

Anonymous said...

We just are coming out of a recession, therefore I believe that the economy will improve from here on. Eventually it will fall again though because that's the business cycle. In the article businessss said that they wenrt losing money anymore so that's good. Middletown could do things to help its self out by putting things here that attract people such as a mall or good restaurants. It would be a risk at first but it could help Middletown out in the long run

P. Stephan said...

I think it is very exciting that profit margins for businesses are increasing, as well as inflation staying under control. But even with these improvements from recent years, i do not think that these changes will show in middletown.

JDailey 2 said...

Improvement in our community and the rise in business profits are proof that the economy of our state is getting better. I believe that Middletown is slowly getting better. We just opened a new health center which will create jobs and help the town as a whole.

Anonymous said...

I feel that our economy will continue to rise, as it should. As in the past, every scare has lead to a recovery, and why wouldn't there be this time? We haven't done anything different except be stupid with our money to make it this bad of a recession. With companies now investing more into a better consumer market, unemployment should now start going down at a sluggish rate too. You just can't fix an 8.5% UP Rate and a 15 trillion debt overnight especially by spending more.

Jason Gibbs Period 1 said...

I feel like middletown is not changing much.in the last five years a little bit for the better. I think that we need money spent in middletown on middletown without people compalining about city taxes

Stone2 said...

I believe that the economy will rise again. I believe that if the city of middletown would build something people want instead of fixing useless backroads that no one travels on would be a big help. Nothing in Middletown shows the rise in economy in a way that Monroe does. Why would Middletown want a nice mall or more restaurants to eat out and boost the economy?

jgroves2 said...

Two thirds of panelists expect to see GDP top 2% and 80% of respondents reported unchanged or rising sales. These are two improvemtns state in the article. There are changes being made in Middletown that support this article such as the new health center that was implemented downtown and some rennovating and refurbishing that is being done downtown.

Jason Gibbs Period 1 said...

i think that our economy is on a rise but very very slowly. so it is still going to be hard for normal people to get buy. the economy is still horrible.
