Gas Prices

Gas Prices are expected to go even higher in some parts of the US, higher  than previously stated for 2012.  How might this impact your family and you?  What is the prediction of the article and what is causing these prices?

My family has two paid off cars and another car that all get pretty good gas mileage. The gas crisis isn't hurting us as bad as other families but it still hurts. The article says that U.S. demand for gasoline is still pretty high, and Americans are increasingly exporting gasoline, where strong demand is keeping prices high. The U.S. consumer is competing with the emerging market consumer, specifically Brazil, China, and India. There is also the fear of anything happening with Iran, one of the major gasoline exporters of the world, so I don't think the prices will be dropping anytime soon.

it would inpact my family because we drive a gas guzzler. the middle eastern people are threating to close down the straight of hormuz, which will cause the price to go up. then when people dont buy gas the prices will drop

This article made some very interesting points. Gas prices are expected to heighten to more than $4.00 a gallon by the beginning of summer. This will affect my family because we probably will not be going as many places due to the big increase in gas prices. Due to our issues with Iran, the prices of gas will not go down in the near future. Many people probably will not drive as much starting this summer due to how expensive gas will be.

My family has two cars, one of which is working. Currently, only one of my family members is employed and thus money is tight. With rising gas prices, money will be spread even more thin. Primarily gas money is spent about $20 per two weeks, sometimes up to $30.
The article predicts prices to rise over $4, which is because of tense relations in the Middle East, where the US gets it's oil. Although some think Iran won't go through with it's threats, I say anything is possible.

I drive a 97 Honda civic and it's pretty good on gas with increased performance modifications on my car it gets better gas mileage than a stock one. With gas increasing it might hinder me a little bit I buy my own gas and fill up about every week and a half an it cost 37.00 to fill up Si it will be a little more expensive but Nothing out of hand

This has effected my family greatly. I live in house with my Grandmother only. My Grandmother lives on social security disability because she is on oxygen and she doesn't have much money. So when gas prices rise I get more and more rides from friends instead of my grandma. The terrible prediction in this article is that the gas prices will still keep rising. I feel if they do keep rising more and more people will ride buses and bikes. The article also states the rise in gas prices are caused by wars or oil spills. I believe the prices will not drop anytime soon until the government realizes gas is one of the main reasons for the low money people have lately.

This will effect my family terribly, because not only do we have 3 cars, but I live almost 10 miles away from most of my friends so unless I get a job I will not be able to afford $4.00+ gas a gallon and will not be doing much traveling this summer. It does not really surprise me that the reason for these increased prices are due to high tensions in the Middle East.

I have my own car and I drive a lot. My car is pretty good on gas but it is getting older so it needs other repairs. If gas prices get any higher I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do. Gas prices continually get higher because they know we will pay for it. If gas reaches over four dollars a gallon, we need to do something about it. We are in enough financial hardship right now, I don't think these gas prices are helping at all.

This will effect my family because we probably wont be driving nearly as much, and if we do drive anywhere, it wont be anywhere far from our house. The reasons predicted that this will happen is because it seems that our economy is in a modest recover, and the recent conflict with Iran.

my family has 3 car, one of which i had to pay for. Two of the three cars have bad gas mileage. And i have to pay for everything for my car: gas, insurance, etc.. So this would effect me a little. Because i will have to pay more for gas. But if gas prices go up usually everything else will go up including minimum wage, so therefor it wont effect my all that much

If gas prices reach $5 a gallon that will impact my family a lot because we do a lot of driving. We, and probably everyone else, do not have the money for $5 a gallon. The article thinks gas prices with be $3.95 by May. The article says this is happening because of our conflict in Iran.

The gas crisis does not hurt my family too badly, but we understand we may have to cut back. My family has two cars and my dad's business has four trucks. With all of these vehicles it will hurt his business more than our family in general. I believe that this crisis is caused by the Iranian government withholding the supply oil that Americans need. In addition, rapidly growing countries like Brazil, India, and China are needing more and more oil to support their society.

Increasing gas prices has always had a large impact on my family. My mom drives almost forty minutes to work everyday each direction. I also drive everyday to school and for other everyday essentials. On top of this neither of the cars we have get very good gas mileage. The article predicts that gas prices could skyrocket to almost $5.00 a gallon in some areas due to the economy getting back on its feet, the foreign dealings with Iran and the increasing demand for gas.

JacobRiceperiod1 said...

The raise in gas prices will more than likely affect my family. Next month we will have three people driving when I decide to get my license so that will probably add another good $40-60 to what we already spend on gas. I live on the far edge of Middletown so it would take about 8-10 miles just to get to school. The article predicts that in the near future gas could be put up to $4.50-$5.00 while the economy is trying to get back to a comfort zone, foreign dealings with other countries and the demand for gas.

It would greatly impact my family because we have 2 cars, a truck, 2 motorcycles, and a boat. Everyday my dad goes to and from work; my mom runs errands; my brother goes to and from Sinclaire, usually stopping at friends', and my little brother and I have school activities. We do a lot of driving. The article predicts the prices raising again thanks to America's high demand and the consumer competing with the emerging market consumer.

This would greatly effect my family. We own 2 cars, a truck, 2 motorcycles, and an SUV. My mother and father both drive two and from work and on errands throughout the day and my father also drives to Dayton for school. I drive to and from school as well, and also to work. The prediction of the article, that gas prices will rise, is in fact happening because of consumer demand. Everyone wants to drive, so they will pay whatever the cost so that they do not have to resort to other means of transportation.

mchristianson said...

I will greatly impact on my mom & I. She drives a V8 and I drive a V6 so we don't get the greatest gas mileage and it takes at least $45 to fill up her tank $40 to fill up mine right now. I have to pay my insurance and most of my gas so if the gas prices go up as much as there supposed to in the next months I know that I'll be doing less driving, that's for sure because I won't be able to afford it.
The prediction of the article is that the US in high demand of gasoline and our conflicts with countries like Iran, where we get our oil, aren't helping the prices go down anytime soon.

My family has three cars, a brother in college two hours away and ill grandparents that constantly need attention, which makes us have go drive back and forth to the hospital everyday. If the gas prices continue to rise it'll be an issue for our family and myself, because I don't have a job and my mom only has a part time job so getting the money let alone will be difficult. The article predicts prices to rise over $4, which is because of tense relations in the Middle East, where the US gets it's oil.

Katy Faulkner said...

The gas crisis will impact my family greatly because we have three cars and they are all driven every day. I live on the other side of town from the school so gas is used up really easily and it's already not cheap as it is. It's hard to imagine the prices getting any higher, but it is definitely not impossible. Due to tense relations with the Middle East, gas prices will continue to rise until everyone starts cutting back on traveling, and then they will most likely go back down. Overall though, it's really not that surprising.

Vada Edwards said...

Well, I'm pretty sure it will effect everyone, but not my family much. My parents do travel a lot; taking me to practices and stuff, but it's not that big of an impact. I predict that the gas prices will actually rise and be very high in certain areas. Mostly main cities will probably have the biggest impacts when it comes to the rise in gas prices. Hopefully, everything gets figured out and back to normal so everyone can be stable enough to afford everything.

My mom has one car. She chose to trade her old car which was very nice for a very small, old car that gets better gas milage. I don't have a job or a car but if gas prices continue to rise I don't think ill be wanting a car. I am a very busy person so I have to get rides from my mom and other family members a lot and they don't like it beause of the gas situation. America gets most of its gas from the middle east and they are threatening to cut it off. If that happens the prices will with out a doubt rise.

kristen larson said...

my family has 3 cars and if gas prices rise and hits $4 it will be harder at first but people will get use to it and either travel less or save more money for gas, but if people would drive less or use less gas it would probably drop.

CaseyMays08 said...

The gas prices effect my father more than they do my mother. My mom has a company car and they pay for her gas, because she works an hour away up north. My dad however does a lot of driving with his job and he has to pay for the gas himself. Also our family car does take up alot of gas. The rising of the gas price's will be rough on my family, and it will cause me to see my father less often because he lives 30 minutes away. If these prices rise it would greatly effect my family.

My cousin has a lincoln and he only uses silver gas, were as my aunt has a van but she uses regular gas. It affects my aunt more than it affects my cousin and that is really weird because you would think that it would affects the guy who is using the silver gas. It would impact my aunt because she is always on the go.

baileyjohnston2 said...

Increasing gas prices would impact me more than my family. I am responsible for paying for my own gas, and my job is in Mason so it's a commute. My car is really good on gas so I don't think it will be that big of deal, but I will have to use most of my paycheck on gas.
This article predicts that gas prices will rise anywhere between $4-$5 a gallon, I believe this is do to America's high demand for gas and the conflict occurring in the middle east.

My family has five cars and five that drive in our family, a jeep and a boat so this will highly affect the way we drive and how often we do so and how often we take the boat out because the gas prices this summer will be up to four dollars. The cause of gas prices going so quickly is the demand for gas and the middle east is our major gas source and they want to raise the price of gas because people are willing to pay for gas at these high prices.

this article is really interesting. but people keep complaining about the gas prices i feel that if its that big of a deal ride with someone. Our economy isnt recovered yet and many things are gonna cost us americans. but this article doesnt really affect me because even though i dont like i pay for the game every single week.

In my family we only have two cars that get driven everyday. My mom drives to work and back everyday and two times a week its to lebonon and back. I also drive everyday for school, after school activities, and to get to places for my social life. My dad drives a work van for his job so he dosent have to pay for gas everyday. i drive a 1984 cutlass supreme so it kinda sucks on gas. I only have a part time and i pay for my own gas so out of my family it will effect me the most. The U.S.'s demand for gas is high and even higher in the summer due to traveling. One of the largest gasoline exporters in the world, Iran, could pull anything on us. There is a big fear of this and i can see why. I hate to say it but I doubt prices are going down.

I drive a 1999 Dodge 2500 with a 360 motor. I get a good 14-17 miles per gallon. i bought this truck for 3000 dollars on Craigs list. I really am at the mercy of the gas prices. i fill my truck up every week and it cost me about 50 dollars. Both my parents have a car and they are paid off so its not as bad. What i do not understand is why we have not looked into the U.S. soil which is rich in fossil fuels. It has been said that there is enough oil in North and South Dakota to last a hundred years. But the Democrats will only allow minimal drilling in the United States. I just need gas. I do not plan on giving up my truck.

TerryLovelace2 said...

This affects me and my family because we have 6 vehicles and only 3 of them are paid off. It usually takes 50 dollars to fill up my car and that price is going up fast. By the summer it will probably take around 60 or 70. This affects my whole family in a big way.

Tiffani Smallwood said...

Both of my parents have trucks and they do pretty well on gas. I don't think that they will be too affected by it because they have jobs and I do not. I will be getting a car soon and since I don't have a job then either my mom or my step-dad would have to lend me money for gas everytime I needed it until I can have a job. The article says that the U.S. demand for gas is really high because of the economy being in a "modest recovery" and also with the conflict of Iran.

This will have a large affect on myself and my family. We live out of town which causes us to drive more than the average family. luckily we have a couple of pretty efficient cars and that will help us a little bit.

The increasing of gas prices affects my family a lot. All four people who live in my household drive and most of our cars are not economic friendly. In the article it predicted that the price of gas would go up to $4.00 by summer. With all the problems in the Middle East, such as Iran gas prices will most likley keep increasing.

Leslie Rhodus said...

I have my own car, a 2006 Mazda Sedan (which is good on gas), but luckily, the only places I really have to drive to are school and home. This doesn't really affect me a lot, per say, as I only spend about $30 a month on gas. My father, however, goes on a lot of business trips, which he must drive, so I am constantly hearing him complain about gas prices, despite the good gas mileage he gets on his van.

If gas raises to five dollars a gallon this will not effect me very much seeing how I am one of those people without a car. ): Although this won't have a great effect on me, my family is a totally different story. There is only one car for my entire family, which is hectic, so as you can see my aunt already uses a lot of gas and has a very low income. So if gas does come to five dollars a gallon, my grandma will have a very hard time getting back and forth to her cancer doctors which would not be good for my family at all.

fotistperiod1 said...

it would impact my family because we have 4 cars which require a lot of gas. Also my dad owns a landscaping business which my dad's car and his lawnmowers require a lot of gas. If the gas prices go over $5 this would impact my dad's business.

I feel that the gas crisis has affected everyone, no matter how small. I don't drive a lot, but I still see the problems when I used to be able to fill up for only $40 and now its 50+. I feel that the US should really start drilling here, because there is a lot of oil. America is too dependent on oil, in general and should spend more money on finding cheaper ways of other fuels rather than try to mediate other countries affairs and force Americans to pay more for their daily oil needs.

Candace Lamb said...

I know from my own experiences that the gas prices is killing me, since I do not have a job it's really hard to pay for my gas. Just to fillip my tank it's $40. That's alot for someone without a job, every week I spend at least $40. But I do do things around the house for it until kings island starts hiring then I get my job back which will be such a load off for me to know I'll have money and I won't have to borrow money just to pay for gas!

Alisha Ferguson said...

i think the gas has affected almost everyone, my car takes about 40 every two weeks but our other car is about 50 to 60 a week if the gas gets up to 4 dollars a gallon by summer that will be harder because it will cost me more money to get gas in my car

If gas prices raise as much as they say the might it will effect my family quit a bit. My mom drives to work 50 minutes a day and her car is average on gas mileage and my step dad drives to lebanon everyday for work as well as me driving to Dayton for soccer practice 3 times a week. We use our vehicles a lot and it will be a big budget change for us to have to save up that much gas money!.

The rise in gas prices will affect my family in a big way. We have two vehicles and it takes about $50 to fill up my car and $60 to fill up the van. Since we travel a lot because of soccer we use a lot of gas. The article states that the U.S demand for gas is still pretty high, which makes the prices raise. The fear of the unstabibility of the middle east is also a problem because they are the main supplier of gasoline. which would raise proces.

A. Wright Per 1 said...

this would affect my family pretty bad because we have six cars total and we all always have places to be. I feel that we should put any dfferences aside with Iran to atleast be civil enough with them to use their oil resources. raising te prices of gas will do nothin but encourage Americans enough more so to not buy it.

Ravensimmonspd1 said...

High gas prices has and wil affect my family and I because I am very involved with school and my youth group. I like about 10 to 15 minutes from school and 30 minutes from my church, so it adds up to a lot of gas bring used every week. When gas prices go up, due to the Middle Eastern tension, people will cut back on buying it, but because of supply and demand, they will go back down.

Cameron Everage prd1 said...

With the expected gas prices going up my family might have some serious issues. My parents both drive long distances to and from work with the both being in the legal field. With the expectations this article is proposing and the fear of things going on in Iran i fear for the well being of the gas market.
