Yay football is almost dead!!!! THey spent too much on stadiums in a bad economy and want to cut salaries of overpaid athletes too make up for it, that's almost criminal.

The NFL needs to make a trade deal with the players but no one can agree. The players want more money. people dont know what the owners want. The NFL cant afford to keep paying the players more and more money that they want.

The NFL is beginning to enter a state of turmoil because the owners and the players are having trouble agreeing on prices and other issues for the upcoming season. The chief commissioner who is suppose to know what the players and owners want has no idea and is completely in the dark. The players have stated that they are going to stand as 1 and fight for their rights.

This relates back to what i posted on for a previous atricle. THEY ARE GETTING TOO MUCH MONEY!! I really dont believe that anyone, no matter how much talent they have, should be payed multi-milions for a sport! It is ridiculous Carson Palmer signed a contract for 119 million PLUS benefits. I think personally that the commissioners should take a stand and lower the contract prices. It is ludacris. @bobbykeefe football will never be dead. ever. sorry about your luck.

The NFL needs to make a new deal with the players. i think they shouldn't have agreed to the deal they took in 2006. If the NFL closes i think it will impact a lot of people. (NFL Fans) I really wish they could just come to terms and settle a new deal to keep the NFL open. :O!

The NFL is spending much more than needed. Maintaining the stadiums is perfectly fine, as well as reconstructing stadiums that are no longer meeting safety regulation codes. But building new stadiums just to build them is not necessary. Another thing is that the athletes get paid way too much. If they want the NFL to last, they must decrease their spending, and only spend on the necessities. Football is too important to the American citizens to risk.

The problem will be solved. But, will it be solved before the next season? No one knows, because it all depends when the players give up some of their humogous salaries. The owners made a huge mistake in the on contract they agreed to. They needed the money to maintain their expensive new stadiums and to support their expensive life styles. The players who tend not to manage their money well will, break in the lock out if it comes to that. The NFL will survive this; there is so much money and this is a little argument over some of it.

they spent too much money in a bad economy. they spent it all on stadiums, players, and awhole bunch of stupid stuff . now they can't afford what is needed

This is an issue that needs to be solved immediately. I believe that the players do get paid too much for what they do and that owners spend too much on stadiums and other unecessary exenses, so I'm not sidin with anyone in this battle. It will probably be a long while before this issue is settled but the owners know that the players are what bring in all the money and if the players lock out next year, there will be no NFL and the owners won't make any money. So maybe as we near closer to the deadline, the owners will realize the terrifying effects of a lockout and make a deal so the NFL can live on and so American's can breathe a sigh of relief.

NFL team owners pay their QB's with huge multi million dollar contracts, and then they can't even sell out their stadium during a home game. The amount of money being payed to somebody who plays a game is ridiculous. Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals, was constructed on the funds of TAXPAYERS!. This will be an ongoing issue until everybody figures out how to lower the money being payed to athletes

Using the money for building stadiums for a "hobby" cause is something that needs to be worked on a bit to save this country some money. Paying the Football players lots of money each year that is more than 10 times as much money an everyday worker makes is also not helping the economy. Cuts need to be made in these budgets if anyone wants the economy to restore itself out of debt.

Of course, what could be more American than arguing over money....not just ANY money...FOOTBALL money....Most of this is just petty arguing between corporate and sports divas who feel they aren't being rewarded well enough for their "hard work".

The players want more money...and the commissioners and owners and whatnot won't put their foot down and say enough is enough. Plain old-fashioned greed will soon be the downfall of yet ANOTHER American business

I agree with basically everyone on here that the players are making way too much money and the contracts of these players are just crazy. These guys are making more money than they need in like 2or 3 lifetimes (or more).

bbaker_2 said...

Ok, these guys get millions and millions of dollars to play a game and they're complaining about not getting enough. Maybe they should be thankful for what they have and make the fans happy. That's what most players talk about, right? They say that i love the fans, and the only reason i do this is for the fans. They need to get back to the game we all love, FOOTBALL!!

I think it would be terrible if the NFL would close in 2011 but it very well could happen, hopefully both sides can agree, I still doubt it will happen because both sides will eventually cave in as they approach the deadline for the agreement

I believe the owners are overreacting because they are the ones that agreed to these terms and they shouldn't be allowed to renegotiate until a time is given. Until then the players should get there same pay unless the majority agrees to take a slight pay cut but until then let them play!

All the owners want is their money guranteed. They do not care if it means pay cuts to some amazing athletes. as long as they get their money and their way they will not complain and the players will probably eventually get locked out in 2011.
