this article is very interesting. It shows how nature can widely affect the economy. People spending more and more money to change routes to and from england,and across europe.
The Europeans are losing $150 Million a day on oil? Thats insane, They need to find a way to get more oil so they don't lose that much in 1 day. Maybe finding new oil resources would help them alot.
This article is talking about how It is being estimated that between disruptions to business, entertainment, and schools - the wider European economy was suffering additional losses of at least $150 million dollars a day. This is happening because everything is expensive people are spending a good amount of money on taxis ,hotels ,food and many other things. maybe buy economizing more, there might be a solution.
This article is rough when it comes to money loss and gain. I don't know if it is good for the economy or bad. I mean it's bad for people obiviously but it's lookin really good for businesses. Personally I think these people should just go back home or to wherever they were trying to leave from and wait it out there until the ashes go away.
i serriously think that i would probaly be good for the people if they wait it out but umm all the people need to do is get some water wholes n spray but fa realz doe they need ta jus get out of where ever they at cause it could b worse the next time but them tryin ta leave will cost money witch the europeaans is losing.
This article is one of the examples of how nature can effect the economy. Since the volcano ash has prevented airplanes from being able to fly out the business for buses, trains, and rented cars or taxis has boomed. They are having to run more buses each day and have created more room for people to travel. The air lines on the other hand have lost millions of dollars because no one is using the air ports. Some people are staying in hotels which has also boosted their income along with restaurants and shops.
It appears that all of this ash is making people suffer financially due to hotel bills and food they didn't plan on getting because they're stuck. But the real losers are the airlines. They've lost an estimated of $200 million a day!!!..yea
losing so much is going to make their economy suffer.. and it will also effect the oil suppliers.. waiting out will make getting to work hard, and people will lose money. i think they have their work cut out for them, it'll be difficult to bounce back from this kind of loss. and to restore what they have lost, as well as any clean up that will follow this kind of a disaster
Nature has a large impact on the economy. Europe realized this after the volcanic eruption that created an ash cloud. Planes had to be canceled,trains delayed, and many tourists were kept out. This cost the economy millions of dollars. Especially in trying to help victims of the volcano.
The economy and nature obviously work together. Since the volcanic ash is in the air disrupting the air flights, i agree with jacwilliams7 when she says the buses,trains and other ways of transportation will sky rocket with business. I also believe people will be using cars as transportation so gas prices will rise, which benefits the oil companies.
Nature has a big effect on the economy, obviously. This volcanic ash has been holding up flights all over the world. Airplanes help transport goods and import goods therefor if we can't use airplanes less goods are being transported where they need to go.
The volcanic ash is creating many problems for people but it is a good thing for many buisnesses. many people have to spend a lot more money because they have to spend money that they weren't planning on spending. the airlines are losing a lot of money because people are finding other ways home. however other buisnesses are gaining money because they can't get home by the time they thought they were going to get home and have to stay somewhere.

People were expecting to be home at certain times, but are now stranded due to the delays of planes and other means of transportation. It is good for business their, but no for our economy as a whole. our wheather is a big factor in our economy in some states/countries the food in some place depends on the climate when snow is out stores get alot of money off selling salt.....whe n volcanic ash hits planes lose money cant jus fly threw up the but buses trains an boats are all things that will be needed so if you have those you can make money im kinda upset that the airlines are asking for compensation whe they'll make it back it happens companies lose money do to alot of things an this is one that we cant change so i dont think at all that they should get anything...a taxi don get paid when a blizzard comes unless salaries involved but who knows the fact....??????

With the oil prices dropping and them not being able to get it out is hurting the economy. If it continues, the economy will start to get worse. And with the people stuck in the air port, thats making the government lose more money a day trying to get the planes off the ground.

I didn't think volcanic ash could affect the economy as much as it did. I also didnt think airlines were such a big role in the economy. I know i'd be very upset if i got stranded and couldn't afford a hotel or food.. The airlines cant do anything for their passengers? Thats crazy.

Natural disasters are inevitable. In our age of technology we must be able to dodge with ease every hit that it may throw at us. People in Europe are getting grounded from their flights because of this volcanic ash making all of these people pay thousands of dollars and more just to get home or out of Norway. Its also killing the airlines having to have to pay 250 million dollars a day just to keep up with all of this.

You can't really do much in the way of natural disasters except cross your fingers and hope for the best. It's unfortunate to see some people profiting off these incidents, but if it makes money, by God someone will undoubtably try.
Nature kind of has an advantage on the world we never know what to expect from it. plus it can make or brake us. like with katrina it put so many people in debt..
