Unemployment Update: Ouch!

This is the most updated article about the recession.  Rising unemployment is still a problem and it is not going away anytime soon.

Like I said before, we need to create more jobs in order for the unemployment to raise. But its unfortunate to hear people are becoming discouraged workers. Where they aren't giving any effort to get a job. We just need something to rejuvinate the economy and get people more interested in making money. Increasing the jobs is the answer, it just sounds easier than it really is.

The definition of a recession has a lot to do with the unemployment rate and they are saying it is over. This is actually the first blog i've done by myself instead of copying off other people. It is obviously not over... The unemployment rate is high, and still rising. it wont really be over until the unemployment is back down. :)

It really scares me that unemployment is still at a tense level such as this. There are many ideas that may slightly mend or aid the currrent situation.
the recession may end rather quickly once the unemployment situation is solved. The best way I can think of is to create more jobs for those out of work. Many areas, (including Ohio with issue 3) have already began to mend this problem.

KyleS6 said...

Sike but this isn't a surprise that the unemployment rate is still high. This is going to be a big step to get out of this recession. Also i think people ear lazy and they dont want jobs. I think we need to motivate people to get jobs.

The fact that the unemployment rate is the highest it's been since 1983 is very frightening, but is also expected. the economy isn't just magically going to improve. I believe that the unemployment rate will grow to 10.5% before it decreases, but eventually it will drop down to 5% like normal.

BrianM6 said...

i think that people are just flat out lazy and that takes up a lot of the percentage of the people unemployed and also there are not of jobs out there available but they are not high paying jobs most likely minimum wage and people are not willing to get that job

msalser7 said...

It sucks that the unemolyment is still high. I hope that it drops back down quickly and that the discouraged workers start to look for jobs again. It would be nice for this recession to be over as soon as possible. Hopefully new jobs will be created or old ones will open back up.

RebekahW6 said...

Well, this is a bit of a problem. Experts say that we are coming out of the recession but with unemployment still high and people without jobs (and therefore money) will just make the economy go back into the slump that we just got out of. It's a vicious circle and until something dramatically changes, it will take a long time until everything gets back to where it was. We need to create more jobs somehow, it's the only explanation unfortunately.

People say "Why isn't the government fixing the economy for us?" but don't understand that to fix it they need to start buying things. The president and congress can't just snap their fingers and say ok everythings better.

This is really scary. I keep hearing of times where the economy was like this before, like during WW2. I think that it isn't a coincidence that we are in a WW2-like recession, considering the fact that America is in a war .I think the war is a part of the reason for the recession.

It is very unfortunate to hear that the unemployment rate is still pretty high and doesn't seem to be headed down anytime soon. We really need to create more jobs and get the opportunity for employment out to the people who are looking for jobs. This recession will not be over until we get the unemployment down to a manageable level.

Shamicak5 said...

we need to find a way to get more jobs but i dont think the casino is a good way i think people is going to be coming out of town to get those jobs taking money from us. and in order for us to end the recession the employment rate has to go up......

ChrisShort said...

I think that in order to get unemployment to lower then we really need to try and make more jobs for everyone. That really is probably the best thing we could do. It really is going to take sometime to get out of this recession, Things are looking progressively better i think we really just need to be patient and really try hard to get through and fix things

kadieh6 said...

It's hard to hear that the unemployment rate continues to escalate. I couldn't believe the number of people unemployed has reached over 15 million Americans. I don't know if we are still in a recession or in a very slow recovery, but I know the high employment rate is not a good sign for the economy. I just hope once we are out of the recession people will start to spend money and be able to create more jobs so we can go back to the way our economy was before the recession.

Marilynツ said...

Well, the recovery can only began if more jobs are created, so that the unemployment rate can decrease. If more jobs are created then people will have more money and it will increase spending. By more jobs being created and money circulating then the step toward recover will be noticed, and people will feel safer spending money.

So its disappointing that the unemployment rate is so high and is about to get even higher. But there is people that have been looking very hard for jobs but noone is hiring. So until the economy does something to put out more jobs, unemployment will never decrease.

It is very scary to see the already extremely high unemployment to go up even more and not be expected to godown for a while. Unemployment hurts everybody. Discouraged workers need to keep looking and not give up. They might get lucky.

Unemployment is going to continue to rise until more jobs can be made. The catch 22 of that is that many businesses still can't afford to hire new workers. If no one is working than the economy wont get better very quickly. Hopefully jobs will start rising soon and then maybe everything else would follow.

MikeyBrown7 said...

In order for employment to rise and unemployment to lower, the government needs to create more jobs. There needs to be something to make people get back out there and work to get those discouraged workers back out there. In order for the recession to be over we need to get the unemployment rate back down and right now it doesn't seem that's happening.

becoming an discouraged worker isn't a smart move. I believe people should still search for work. Creating jobs is a solution which is hard to find during this recession. This is tragic, but would easily fix unemployment.

L.Howardperiod7 said...

It's bad to see that the unemployment is still so high. Until the unemployment can go down I think we'll be stuck in this recession. We need to be focusing on how to make jobs for the people who need them if we want to recover from this.

kaygibb said...

well... in order for the unemployment rate to go back down we need to create more jobs for people so that they have more options and more of a chance of getting a job.

I think Obama did a good things with the roads and rebuilding them but other than that they need to creat more jobs for the average person than worry about the health care reform.

Anonymous said...

Its not really shocking that the unemployment rate is high.. its kind of expected since we're in a recession and all. If there were more jobs it probably would be so high.

elyniP4 said...

The only way to really lower ynwmployment rate is to create more jobs. This will also help us with the recession because if pepole have jobs than they'll be spending more money and everything will have to progress.

Alec said...

In order for unemployment to lower, we make more jobs available. It's almost impossible to find a job these days. If we can increase jobs we will see the unemployment rate lower.

AJDowning4 said...

We need to creat more jobs to get unemployment down. I know some people that have looked all over for jobs and still cant find one. Once we increase jobs we will start to see the unemployment rate drop.

jparks5 said...

I've seen many government programs that will create more jobs for people. The unemployment rate should come down if these programs work. Unemployment is an easy problem to fix on paper, but you can't just start the program you have to motivate the people to work.

Sarah B. per#4 said...

The unemployment rate really plays a major role in how the economy is doing. If the unemployment rate gets to high then it can have some serious effects on the system.Like others have said, we need to somehow create new jobs for things to get better, but the thing is,how do we go about doing that? If we can raise the unemployment rate, it can only have a positive effect on the economy.

Jakefletcher said...

This recession is putting a hurtin' on our employment rate. The rate is rising and rising quickly. Who knows when it will stop? I think its very obvious that if there aren't more jobs available it certainly will not go up.

dross =] said...

the unemployment rate is still extremely high. but in my opinion that is because many older people do not want to work when they can draw all the benefits that the state gives.as for teenagers, we are taught at school and at home, you must work to get what you want. but for some others, they can not find a job because of the recession, but for the most part i believe that the economy is lazy.

joe davis period4 said...

I think extending benefits is not going to be enough. They need to motivate companies to create jobs. The extension of benefits is only a band-aid on the problem. Alot of people on unemployment I feel won't take a lower paying job. They want these non existant high paying jobs. I feel like any kind of paycheck is better than no paycheck.

Heather said...

I feel once jobs increase, and more people get out there and find hope that they can get a job the unemployment rate will rise at high rates.

briannab5 said...

a lot of people are getting discouraged because they cannot find any jobs so they just give up. the unemployment rate is affecting the fact that we are still in a recession. but it is going to take some time before we get out of it

dpaynter4 said...

It is not surprising that the unemployment is still high. People are not working because there aren't many jobs that are hiring people. Fixing unemployment is main isuue on trying to get out of this recession.

Anonymous said...

I feel like the fact that unemployment is still high is not just a problem that will fix itself with time. A stride to actually find ways to create new jobs that will be permanent and help the economy is in order. Stimulating the economy and just getting by won't cut it in the long run. A new way that we employ our nation will need to happen.

AshleyS6 said...

I believe that the recession is not fully over. but i think that before it can officially be over the unemployment rate needs to be solved. People need to just get it together and not be lazy and go look for a job if they are complaining.

ShelleyT6 said...

I agree that we need to create more jobs and opportunities for people. That would make it easier for people to actually get hired and easier for people to actually keep a job for a while.

drp11 said...

This is no surprise that the unemployment rate is still very high. It's hard for people to go out and find jobs , & until people do go out and find jobs the unemployment rate will continue to rise , which will keep us in the recession . But people also need to stop being lazy and find jobs !!!!

kara.m_xoxo said...

It shouldn't be new to anyone that the unemployment rate isn't going down, and it's not about to go up anytime soon. More jobs need to be created if they expect the unemployment rate to go down because people are trying to find jobs but unfortunately nobody's getting hired and they are becoming discouraged workers which is really sad! Something needs to be done and that something needs to be done soon!

Not only do jobs have to be created but they have to go to the people who need them. The people in that specific area where the job has risen... If we give all of our available jobs to immigrants we will never get out of this recession. People do not need to become discouraged the government just needs to make a program to put the job market back on the rise.

Lauren True said...

I don't know why the economy thinks that everything is going to magically get all better. The unemployment rate is at the same percent since 1983, thats pretty scary. But the rate will really is going to rise before it drops back to the normal 5%.

the fact that the unemployment rate is so high shows that the country is still reeling from the effects of the recession, even if it may be "over". we're going to be feeling the effects for awhile since we didn't really start to feel the effects until well after the recession had already begun.

AOsborne5 said...

VictoriaWooton2011 said...

It's still a little frightening that the unemployment rate is this high, but it seems rather expected. Every economy goes through it's ups and downs. However, I don't believe we should create more jobs. I believe we should open up previously existing ones.

well i also knew unemplyment was going to go higher... my dad is getting ready to leave to mexico because he works in landscaping and every year he leaves when the season chages and the weather gets bad, but before he leaves he gets unemployment till like april when summer is coming back in ohio, and my dad jus chills he cant do anything else because is hard to find another job during this season plus my parents got their business over in mexico so he has to go help mommy......so i dont think unemployment is changing at all..........
