What do the people think?

Do you believe we are still in a recession? What do the people think? What do you believe?

The recession is not quite over yet but we still have to do a lot more to pull our country out of it.
Unemployment rate is still high, but is slowly decreasing. Hopefully soon we can say for sure that we are out of the recession and not have to question it.

I think the recession is not over just yet. we still have a lot of things that need fixed. I agree that the cash for clunkers did work. It was a great idea to stimulate the auto industry. I think we'll know the recession is over when unemployment rates go down.

Things are really begging to look up for our ecomnomy. People are even becoming hopefull that things are looking better which is the case. People are now just looking for a place to lay the blame. Some people even think that Obama's economic plan is doing us more harm than good...is it? But slowly things are getting and loooking better.

In my opinion we still are in a recession, just slowly digging our way out. With programs trying to help such as cash for clunkers and government intervention we may be out of it by the middle of 2010. Many people believe that we are already done but they are very wrong. Many employees still need jobs and businesses need help. We are well on our ways, just not quite there yet.

Personally I think the recession is not over just yet. But soon and very soon our country will be a lot stronger and we will be able to pull ourselves out of this predicament. Hopefully when we do get out of this recession that we will never ever go back into this huge hole that was created.

I think that many people that were interviewed on the CNN survey may be oblivious to alot of things that are going on today with the recession. Things are not as bad as people say they are, those people may say it is bad based on their own personal situation and problems. I still agree that the recession is not over yet however i dont think that it is going to get any worse than it is now, i think we will slowly continue to move out of the recession and hopefully then maintain a decent economy

KyleS6 said...

We are still in the recession definitely. I think some of our nations packages to get us out of recession worked but unemployment rate is sky high. To give some to the government it is coming down but not that much. We've got a lot of ways to go but we will make it out eventually.

ShelleyT6 said...

I agree that the recession still isn't over just yet. It's obvious that jobs are still scarce and there's still families in need. Also as the polls show, more people are beginning to change their opinion about the recession being over.

RebekahW6 said...

According to the article and the polls, people are slowly beginning to see the economy improve. I'm not saying that the recession is close to over but at least things are improving and Americans are taking notice. We are slowly coming out of this economic hole that we dug ourselves into but until we see employment rates rise, we are still going to be in a slump, but things will improve eventually.

JessyC6 said...

I'd have to agree with everyone else and say that no we are not totally out of the recession just yet. I do believe, however, that we have already hit the bottom and now we are slowly but surely working our way back out of it.

kadieh6 said...

I believe we are still in a recession, but the circumstances have improved a little from what I have seen. Although from this article there is still a high percentage of people who believe we are still in a serious recession, the number is dropping. Little things, like the unemployment rates rising slowly, show that the economy is doing better. It will take more time for us to finally be out of a recession.

Dustin D. said...

I definitely still believe that we are in a recession, and the American public believes the same thing. According to the article, 69 percent of Americans still think our nation is sin a recession. I agree with them, but I do believe that our economy will be stable again in a few months.

Luke Sherron said...

I don't think the recession is over yet, but I wish it were. There is a lot that it will take to come out of it but I think we are on the right track. I think the cash for clunkers was a success. The unemployment rates are going down and thats a good sign.

JBiddle7 said...

I agree with the poll. We are still in a recession. It is not as bad as it was in November, or April, but it is still pretty bad.

Just because the economists say we are out doesn't mean that this is true.

Republicans should stop blaming democrats for the troubles. It is both sides faults

Indigo&Cotton said...

While the recession is in a much better spot that it was, it still is going on. The rate of unemployment is quite high, with many people being forced to take much much lower paying jobs. All it takes is a bit of time and effort and we will be able to answer yes, when asked if the recession is over.

Austin Mooney said...

I think we are still in recession. Many people are still having troubles financially and can't seem to find a way out. Cash for Clunkers did help, it helped a lot, but unfortunately it was not long term and wasn't the grand problem fixer many hoped it to be. This recession is far from over, but that's not saying over won't be soon.

Marilynツ said...

The recession is not over yet. There are plenty of things left that we could do to get out of it. Which we have done some of them, I believe that we are close to the end of it.

ChloeM6 said...

I have to say that I believe we're still in the recession. We're still feeling the effects, houses are still having difficulty selling, employment and money is still hard to come by.
However, as far as I know this could just be the after-affects lingering FROM the recession. Who knows.

Heather said...

The recession is not yet over, but as I've said in the previous articals were slowly getting out of it. With all these stimulus packages and plans for the future I think soon it'll be over, we just have to deal with the ending struggles of the recession.

A.McCullough4 said...

The recession isn't over yet. There are plans to help us out, but as of now it's going to be awhile until the recession is no longer a worry. Unemployment is higher than ever and we are experiencing it here in butler county.

Tyler Manley said...

The recession is not over nor do i think it will be over soon. The unemployment rate is still high and Barock Obama will add more troops to Iraq and you better face it wars do cost alot of money... but i think that eventually we will get out of the recession

AshleyS6 said...

This is a good sign for the economy. Even though i still think the recession is not over just yet. Unemployment rate is still high, but is decreasing slowly. People are being more hopeful about the economy becoming better.

agg2011 said...

Its obvious that we are still in recession. There are so many people without jobs still. But the fact is that times are getting better than they were and i think that they will keep getting better. There are some people who still aren't sure about if or when it's ending but i think it can be more of a personal thing, meaning how life is like in your own home.

I think that it is debatable whether we are still in a recession. Some people might look at the certain programs such as cash for clunkers and believe that we are on our way out. While others might note the unemployment rate and see that we still have a long way to go. I personally think we are on our way out, slowly but surly.

msalser7 said...

The article states that economists think the recession is ending but the citizens of the United States think otherwise. They believe that there is still a ways to go before the recession will be over, although, it is getting slightly better. I agree with the citizens of the U.S. because even though things are getting better we are still not out of this recession completely. The unemployment rate is still high and needs to come down.

Abbie said...

The recession is not yet over, but our conditons here are improving. As the article stated, Americans are starting to notice that we are slowly pulling out of the recession. There are still a number of people who believe we're in a recession but the percentage is dropping. This is a good sign, and I'm glad people are beginning to understand that things are improving even though they're not perfect yet.

L.Howardperiod7 said...

I think that we are still in a reccession, but we are slowly coming out of it. Even though we are recovering I think we are at a point where we could easily slip back into a worse reccession if something went wrong. If we keep making our same progress we should recover.

Jakefletcher said...

In my opinion, I do think that we are on our way out of the recession. Things are looking up for many businesses and in the stock market. Yes, many people are still out of jobs but others will come about. With the statistics, you can see that the american public is looking up more.

JaQuan Williams said...

I am not sure what to think on this topic. One reason is that even though the poll shows a decrease in percentage towards what people think of the recession. It is all based on opinion and not facts. Also people could have just had things go great for them lately. Another reason is people can just hear from unknown sources and automatically assume that the recession is getting better.

VictoriaWooton2011 said...

I'd like to think positively on the subject, but looking at reality I can only think of being pessimistic. Yes, we are coming out of the recession, but the US is still in gross amounts of debt. I dont see trouble for the US being out of sight for a while.
We are always going to have problems economically and we're going to have to face that.

I agree with all of the statements my classmates have made. I think that you could look at the economy as a roller coaster. We went down that first big hill, into the recession, and we are at the point in between the top of the next hill. It is a gradual build. The economy is going to gradually get better.

kaygibb said...

i definitely think that we're still in the recession as far as people losing jobs and being unemployed. But lately lots and lots of more people are getting their lives straightened back out and are getting jobs again. Hopefully this continues so that our nation can be stable again.

MikeyBrown7 said...

I feel that the recession is not quite iver yet, the way it seems it might be over in the next few months. Most people think that it's still not over , but everything takes.

ConorO'Hea said...

It's obvious we're still in recession. If we weren't then the unemployment rates wouldn't be as high as they are. I do like what I'm seeing with the new programs and the progress we're making. But I don't consider us in the clear. It could get worse...

Mwbeatty.7 said...

The recession is ending no time soon. Financially, our economy will not flourish for quite some time. Cash for clunkers wasn't as helpful as expectations were set high. Unemployment, still very crucial, even though it is seemingly going down. With this said,I do believe the recession will end no time soon.

I think we still are in the recession. The people surveyed all believe that there are different strengths of the recession, but they think there is still one going on. I think the recession will go away because there are ups and downs in an economy. A recession is unavoidable.

Chris Edwards said...

The recession is not over yet but hopefully and prayerfully it will be very very soon. We still have a lot of areas to work and improve on because unemployment rate is still high which is not a good things because it's just slowly decreasing.

Sfranks2011 said...

i myself believe we're still in a recession. We still have alot of jobless people in the world and Middletown itself is falling apart. I can tell the difference from us being in a recession because it's getting harder and harder for people to find jobs and to provide for themselves. But, hopefully soon it'll be over and done with and our country will restore itself.

NTapia11 said...

I think the recession isn't over yet but it takes time to get out of the big mess we're in. There's no jobs and without jobs, there is no money. Too many jobs are over stocked with workers and it makes it hard for others to get that job. some people are either losing their jobs or havinhg trouble finding them.

JazminTH said...

I suppose I'll have to side with the 7 out of 10 who say the recession is still bad. I also agree with some of Obama's economic plan. Overall, I think that no matter what the public says our economy still has a lot to get fixed. It may take a while, but i hope one day soon things will start to seem brighter than they are.

Alec said...

It is going to be a long slow process to get out of this recession. Things are getting better but that doesn't mean the recession will be over soon. The unemployment rate is still high, but hopefully after some more time we will be out of this recession.

dpaynter4 said...

Honestly, i think we are still in a recession. Our debt is increasing every day. It is good that we are trying to get out of it with the cash for clunkers and other things, but they just aren't well enough. We need to develop a long-term plan that will slowly but surely get us out of the recession and get things going again

HOLOGRAPHICpizza said...

I don't think the recession is over yet, but it's definitely getting better. And I think some people don't really want it to be over, because marketing has just recently caught on to the recession, as seen in the picture. Plus you can use the recession as a convenient thing to blame stuff on. Like "Why did you come to school naked?", "It's a recession!".

Sarah B. per#4 said...

The recession is not over yet. The economy is still in pretty bad shape. The stock market and a lot of businesses are still not doing very well. I think that its going to take some people a lot to get back on their feet, especially if they lost their job. The recession will be getting better when people get their jobs back and the stock market is going good and strong again. Hopefully soon we can get out of the recession and start paying off some of the national debt.

BreeLipscomb08 said...

I think we're still in the recession, but things are getting better. The cash for clunkers did work. It did a great job of making the auto industry better off. I don't think we'll be in the recession for that much longer. Hopefully by the end of 2010 things will be back on the right track.

I think that we are still in a recession. I also think that we are slowly getting out of it because businesses and companies are doing better. But i believe it'll take a long time to completely get out of it because we are so deep in.

Eva Estrada said...

yea i do believe we are in a recession and we do have to do a lot more to save our country.
i dont think unemployment will go down we need to find another way of fixing this but not with unemplment because a lot of immigrants have unemployment because of not knowing english or not having finish high school they dont have jobs, even though they are legal they still dont have jobs.

AJDowning4 said...

I think that we are still in a recession. Hopefully the plans to get us out of the recession, come into effect. Unemployment is still too high. Slowly the economy is getting better. Hopefully we'll be out of the recession soon.

MehlxyM2 said...

I believe that though the recession has not quite reached an end, the end is not too much farther away. Everything is increasing or decreasing as it needs in order for the recession to end. Given, this is a slow process, but it is happening. I think it is interesting the number of people that disagree on whether or not we are in a recession, or whether or not it's an important issue. I think this is an issue that either IS or ISN'T, and there isn't very much middle ground.

jparks5 said...

I am starting to notice the recession. My parents talking about it. Jobs are still hard to come by. I think the plans that are supposed to help are helping. A lot of things need to go right for it to get better.

anthony o'brien. said...

i feel that certain people may still be in the recession. i also feel like the blame should not be put on certain parties. that's whack, and that's possibly a reason for the recession. just a thought of mine. the unemployment rate is slowly declining though which is something positive. let's hope that other factors can point to a nearly over recession.

AOsborne5 said...

i think the recession situation is getting better, but it's not over yet. we are making progress and people are slowly getting employed and being able to afford things. cash for clunkers was a good idea and i think it was affective. its an up and down cycle and we're slowly going back down.

KayceeW5 said...

I think the recession will die down soon but not just yet. There are a few things that still need to be done. Unemployment rate is kinda getting better but there is still a lot of people without jobs. Hopefully this foolishness will end and our economy will be back on track.

kara.m_xoxo said...

No, i don't believe the recession is over, but there still are people jobless and a lot of people's houses are getting foreclosed, and a lot are being left homeless because they can't afford anything. I think the people are hoping that it's going to die down soon. I know i am because i really need a job!!!

drp11 said...

Yes i believe the recession is getting better. The time will come when everything will get back to normal but for now we have to take things slowly. All the different programs such as cash for clunkers has helped a lot. I'm happy to see things are improving we just have to keep it up and not let things get worse.

allysonl6 said...

The recession isn't anywhere near being over, sorry to all the people who have different views, but this country is still not at it's best. I have nothing against people looking up to a light at the end of a long dark tunnel, but they better start doing their part to reach that light. Sorry if I put it a little bluntly.

I still believe we are still not out of it and still not near out it.
It will be a long time till were out of it. we dig a big hole over many years and it will take more than many years to fit.

US still is in recession, but not as bad as before. There signs in the economy that indicate that US is going out of recession. With luck the unemployment rate will start decreasing in a modest way soon.

i dont think the recession is over i think it is almost over but not all the way. there is alot of people who still dont have jobs. there is alot of things that need to be fixed.

dross =] said...

i do not believe that the recession is over. too many people are still having problems finding jobs. and the unemployment rate is not decreasing. i think the main issue that is advised on the recession is unemployment so therefore we judge the way the economy is reacting to the recession by unemployment.

veronica(: said...

i don't think that the recession is over just yet, we still have to get the unemployment rate back down.

Allyson said...

Although were still in a recession, were slowly coming out of it. Many Americans have opposite opinions on the cause and opposite beliefs of what is going to help. I think that if the economy and plans continue to improve then we'll be out in no time. It seems to be working, so even though it will take a while, it's better than no change!

MeganS4 said...

I understand how people think the recession is coming to and end but you also have to look at the unemployment rate.
That, I think, is one of the most important things right now.
We still have thousands of jobs lost because of this, and we may not regain all of them.

joe davis period4 said...

Hopefully Americans are learning through this recession. That today we all have alot of convienence. I believe alot of families have went back to the basics and are understanding the difference between wants and needs. Hopefully we all learn from this and when it is over. America is never put back in this situation.

I don't think we're necessarily in the recession anymore, but we're still reeling from the effects and we're trying to get back on our feet. I'd say that by this time two (three at most) years from now, we will be like we were before. Unemployment is still high, but it's gradually going down.
