I believe that since the economy is tumbling at the moment, consumers will spend much less during the holiday times. The retail groups only expect their sales to jump up two and a half percent this holiday season, which is half of what it was last year. With the market failing, people are having to conserve their money so that they do not end up going bankrupt
The holiday season wont be bringing very many companies the substantial sales they are used to gaining in previous years. The holiday season will only be predicted to expand 2.2% This is only half of the ten-year average. The falling economy has put financial pressure on the middle-class families and will therefore not spend as much on the holiday season this year. The economy is not predicted to rebound until the second half of next year. Hopefully then, many more families will be in a better financial position to provide for their families in the holiday season.
This Christmas season is not going to be the normal one that we always expect. For companies who are used to getting the rush of holiday purchases it may not be the same. Consumers are saving money from fear of the latest news on the economy. I think that this holiday season will be very different from the past.
The market is failing, there is no other way to put it. People are scared of going bankrupt, therefore this holiday season will not be abundant with gifts. Most people will spend much less money this year on gifts, I for one know that if the economy does not improve drastically then I will hardly spend any money on gifts for my family and friends. Retailers think that this particular holiday season sales will only be at a maximum of 2.5% which is about 1/2 of what it spiked to last year. If the economy does not improve soon, then I know I will be one of those people that causes the percent rate to be lower than last year in holiday sales.
The Holiday's this season will have a giant change in sales. The Retail Federation thinks sales will expand 2.2%. Thats below the averge since the past 10 years. The average has been 4.4%. Unemployment is rising. It's failing because the high engery and food costs will still take people's money and wont be able to have the perfect christmas.
I think that this holidays sales will most likely decrese dramatically. The economy is at a hult and so it spending money. The retail offices say that it will drop from 4.4% to 1/2 making sales at about 2.2%. I know that with my job and the expenses on good i will not have alot of extra cash to just spend.
Whenever there is a weak economy, people became cheap and will not spend as much, that is why it is only going up 2.2%. My family has already agreed to cut back on Christmas spending, with gas and food being very expensive, lotta people will slow down this holidae seazon
I think the most influential factor in my family would be the high energy and gas prices. Hopefully, the increasing prices won't make my holiday too horrible. Gifts themselves will probably be more expensive as well. This year will definitely be interesting.
i agree that since the economy is so bad, consumers will be very conservative in the holiday purchases this year. NRF says that unemployment and the housing crisis will be among the concerns of the consumers this holiday season. people have less money to spend on gifts and such due to the high food and energy costs.
Although I am used to not receiving many gifts around the holidays, many people will certainly be effected by the financial issues. Not just families, but companies as well. I'm not really one to panic when things go south, but I am concerned about the future. I'm wondering how long i will last, not necessarily worried about the holidays, but getting another job, college, etc. With the prices of so many things going up, and possibly staying up or going higher, so many of us are going to have an even harder time when it's time to go out into the world and try to make it on our own.
Since our economy is at a downfall right now, everybody is watching their spendings. People dont have a choice since everything is going up. Retailers think the spending will expand 2.2 %, when the average has been twice as much.
i think that the holiday sales wont be that high. prices are going up and people are losing money, hopefully by christmas time the sales will decrease. but we are just going to see what happens
I believe the households are experiencing a tightening of budgets. my mother has already told me not to expect a huge christmas and i doubt many families will have one.
This year the holidays will probably not be like Christmas's before for a lot of people. People are having to spend their money more wisely these days so that they do not go bankrupt.
