Unemployment Rate hits 5 Year High

With poor economic times comes an even higher unemployment rate. Are you surprised with this number? Do you have concerns? Do you know someone that has lost their job?

This is bad, especially for new college grads who need work. My family has not been affected because they secured jobs before the decline. But I am looking for a job right now, and it looks much less promising than it used to. Hopefully companies will start hiring again pretty soon.

6.1% is a little ridiculous.
I've seen many people around me who have been laid off due to employment cuts, but I honestly didn't think it was that bad. I know that both political parties are trying to reach new ways to create more jobs, but it really can't wait. With the prices of goods as high as they are, you really can't afford not to have a job. Ultimate job security would be wonderful. I think our economy has many. many faults.

My parents and I all had jobs before the job decline. Thank goodness. The unemployment rate is currently 6.1% which is the highest it has been in 5 years. I can hardly imagen what it must be like to try to find a job now-a-days. I agree that being fresh out of college would be nearly impossible to find a secure job. If there is a thing such as that. But also really its hard for anyone to find a job, be you a parent, elder who has not yet retired, teenager, or fresh college grad.

My family has really not been effected because they have had their jobs for a while now. The unemployment rate is pretty high, and I have been looking for a job and it has been kinda hard but think I found one. I think that with time, once the economy begins to heal this problem will slowly begin to dissapear, but that may be a while no one really can know at this point.

unemployment is unbelievable these days. so many people are out there struggling because they have been layed off and they have famillies they need to take care of. hopefully with the new election coming around the corner things might eventually ease up. something needs to change because famillies aren't gonna be able to hold on much longer

No job means not being able to support your families. I mean if it's this hard for us teens to get jobs, imagine what's it's like for those adults. The unemployment these days are unsupportable. hopefully we get through it and everything gets back to normal. The election might be able to help. I hope those voters out there make the right decision.

This is a good reason why people might think we are going into a recession. 605,000 jobs lost in one year. 60,000 jobs lost in just the month of July. That's horrible. Its happened here in Middletown with the AK Steel Workers. People have too have jobs too survive.

The employment rate rose to 6.1% which is the highest since september 2003. The economy lost 84000 jobs in august. And itis crazy that the U.S has lost 605000 jobs just this year. So I why the unemployment has increased. I just hope they can get some of thse jobs back and get people off their feet and go to work.

A lot of people I know have recently been laid off of jobs they have had for years because of the unemployment cuts. Now trying to find a job is hard because no one seems to be hiring. This makes it hard for many people to support families.
