Oh, my childhood memories are coming back to me now.......... read this article about Russia and decide what economic issues could arise due to these actions.
I don't think the U.S. needs to get involved in the ordeal. The U.S. likes to get into people's business where they don't belong and then lose the battles too. We would be very hypocritical to oppose Russia when we have our troops doing the exact same thing. Another affair with Russia would lead to nuclear war. The United States does not nearly have enough financial security to get involved in more battles that aren't welcome to us. And to threaten to cut off Russia from trade would be disastrous because we get a lot of our goods from Asia, and our economic conditions are already very unstable.
I have mixed feelings about the whole ordeal. In this conflict both Russia and the US can be could be accused of hypocrisy; on the US's part: the parallels with Iraq, and I have yet to read any statements made by the US on South Ossetia in the conflict. South Ossetia has actually been de facto independent since it declared independence. Now though, South Ossetia is just pushed out of focus as an excuse for Russia to attack Georgia, and Russia would see it absorbed into its federation. I'm not sure if the US should impose economic repercussions on Russia, or what effects that would have on either country's economies.
Instead of always looking for a fight how about we look for some peace. I understand that we are trying to help people out in a way but we are our on nation and other naions are their own nations. We should try to help them out but only if they want and need it and only in the ways they say. All these wars are making nations hate us. Before to long we will not have anyone on our side.
There should be a certain limit set on how much and how the US could get involved in this crisis. My recommendation is that they send no troops, or money over there. The only thing that they should send is political advice. This mini war has nothing to do with the US so they should just not get involved.the US has to deal with Iraq, so just let it the situation with Russia and Georgia be.
I think the US needs t just stay out. We have way too many problems of our own that we need to handle. Russia is also not that weak, so we need to watch ourself and not start another nuclear war. And its just a small war so im sure they can handle it themselves.
This incident made me feel like we were going to pick a fight with everyone over in that area. I think the most we should do is help peace negotiations and thats it. We dont need to be using force anymore than we already are.
