As a consumer, how far, is to far, when it comes to violence in computer games? Do you agree with this decision in the U.K. or is it up to the consumer to decide what enters their home?
I think the Brits are going too far with the banning of this game. The developer even revised the game and they won't even accept that. Banning the game completely is going too far, i think something like a "mature" rating would be sufficient. Rating boards are becoming too closed minded these days, trying to "protect" the children from violence in video games. I can understand stricter rating on life-like violence such as the Manhunt games, but games like Halo that have violence directed towards aliens should not recieve a Mature rating. Total bannation of a game is too far. Let the audults and paretns decide what type of games go into their households. Just because a bunch of government officials think it's too violent, doesn't mean teh masses do.
This video game clearly has a sick and demented plot line but as stated in the article. The adults have the choice in what is allowed in the video games and in their homes. I think the game shsould not be banned for graphic violence, i mean com'on have you ever watched a rated R movie. This is no different except it is computer animated which i would think is a step up. I think completely banning the game jsut being overly protective. Espeacially when the game has been edited. I think the British are being far to restrictive and need to allow the release of the game. Let the people decide what is appropriate. Yes, give it an "M" rating but still release it and allow it to be decided by the public. Not releasing this game willl also pose a large economic strike on the company which will hurt their further production. -Alex landen
Games are rated for their content, but still, a game is just a game. It doesn't matter what some people think are too violent, because everyone has an opinion. "Too violent" is like someone saying their food is too hot. People play what they want to play, thats why they have to pay for games. If parents get mad because kids are playing violent video games, THEY SHOULD STOP LETTING THEIR KIDS PLAY THEM!
I think that banning this video game completely is going a little to far. Yes, this game is not very suitable for really anyone in my opinion, but if you want to play it you should be able too. It is up to parent to decide if a child can play a game. If you think it is too violent do not but it or allow your child to play it at a friends house or anything. My little brother loves video games but he knows what he should play and what he shouldn't. Apparently the game has been edited so that makes it a little better anyways. People need to not freak out about things like a video game. How do we know that the people that think this is too violent aren't just all for games like sonic the hedge hog and old stuff like that. I think that the British are going a little overboard.
