With seats like that, I'm sure it's only the fashion we're paying for.

well... its sound like they are spending a lot, but the US is not the only place where the government does that. the european union is spending nearly five hundred million euros every year for transportation between their two headquarters , one in Brussels and another in Strasbourg.

I think that the government should charge the officials that wrongfully used tax payers money for the prices of the first class tickets.
I think that they should have to ride in the regular cabin just like most people, especially since they do not even pay for the flight and if they want to ride first class then they should pay the difference themselves.
