i think halloween spending would be a very good thing for the u.s. economy. They say its expectations are supose to hit 5.8 billion dollars; which makes complete and total since. If you think about it a lot of people buy decorations, candy, and costumes for halloween so its not surprising. this is really going to benefit our economy and its about time.

This year, Halloween is really going to help the economy. More people are excited and enthusiastic about it then years past. People are not as afraid to spend money on things. This could have a bigger impact than most people take it for. It may be the next leap this economy needs to get back on the path of success.

Halloween will boost spending but not anymore than it would have two years ago. The recovery is two slow and businesses are relying too much on holidays to boost their sales. If things don't pick up we might go into a double dip recession

I think the increase in Halloween spending is a good thing for the United States economy. It will help people become less stressed. This will most likely benefit the economy also.

A survey by National Retail Federation (NRF) showed the single largest expense will be on costumes for children, adults and pets.
the chief executive of the NRF said in a statement, noting that the pagan holiday has given Americans a welcome mental break from the stress of the economic doldrums. i agree this year halloween will help the economy.

I think that spending about 5.8 billion dollars on halloween will be good for the economy. So many peopl ehave been scared to spend money but they don't really care about money when it comes to scareing people and having fun. Also it will help with people's spirts because they get to dress up and be who ever they want to be for one night. To escape the crazyness from the world. Halloween is both fun for everybody and good for the economy.

Halloween is going to be a great thing for our economy, but it's crazy to think that American's are going to spend 5.8. bllion dollars on Halloween. I guess when you add up the high price of everything these days, it isn't hard to spend 40 dollars on a costumes and up to that much more in candy and decorations. I think that this will be a good time for American's to go out, have fun and free themselves for one night from the stress of life in America. And I also believe that it will boost peoples moods about the economy to see that we are spending close to the same amount as in 2008 and that a better economy may be in sight.

halloween is a big holiday for americans. The government sets up times for children to run about neighborhoods asking for candy. many people participate and love halloween. The economy could benefit from any holiday sales.

The average American will spend 66$ on Halloween. That doesn't seem outrageous or surprising, personally I would spend the whole 66 on candy, but I guess people can dress up their pets if they want. As far as boost for the economy, I don't really see one. 5.8 billion $ is not a lot for the American economy. Our GDP which last year hit 14.5 TRILLION, makes the tinny dent of halloween seem inconsequential.

Any kind of spending is good for the economy, and hopefully Halloween won't be a downer. Though, like most surveys, there is always error. Hopefully it's not too big of an error.

I think that spending about 5.8 billion dollars on halloween will be good for the economy, but i am not sure that it will boost the economy as much as people think.

I feel like halloween in general gets bigger every year and it does not surprise me that this year the expectation is 5.8 billion dollars. This will be very good for the economy.

I believe that Halloween will boast the economy because of all the spending.I hope that the boast will help the economy.

Hopefully, Halloween will give a much needed boost to our economy this year. People are less afraid to spend money on things such as candy, decorations, and costumes.

i think that halloween this year will really help the economy because people are going to be spending more this year than they did last year. there expected to spend 5 billion dollars. though it will b good for the economy it wont fix it.

BaileyBrubaker said...

I think its funny that people are spending money on buying there pets costumes. i want to buy my dog a costume. Halloween does seem like kind of a ridiculous holiday to spend a lot of money on though. But, hopefully it will help our economy.

It's nice that this year people are excited about Halloween and it's a means of "getting away" from the low economy but it still doesn't change the fact that people are without jobs and the spending just isn't there like it used to be. But i'm hoping for the best and hoping that it does boost sales.

Evanpetten2 said...

I think with the economic troubles just about every one is restless. Although, they will probably spend the same amount of money as they did the year before. As much as it would help our economy, a huge spending probably wont happen. Some people would rather buy groceries for their children then dress their dog like a mermaid.

KCollins5 said...

For Halloween this year, I believe the candy sales will help balance the economy out rather than boosting it greatly. Spending 5.8 billion dollars on Halloween supplies is a lot of money, but there still is more debt that 5.8 billion dollars can't touch. There still needs to be a lot more done before this economy can "leap" out of this debt.

Stevenator said...

Of course Halloween will have a good effect on the economy, it's a time where most people will spend money on costumes, candy, decorations, and other things of the sort. It's also a time for those VERY early birds who go Christmas shopping. It's not big, but any amount of spending will help put more money into the markets again.

I agree that Halloween, along with other holidays, will benefit our economy. But, i don't think that it will be any different than in past years. If anything it will be less spending and this isn't going to solve our economic situation.

I think the halloween spending is going to greatly help the US economy because people are going to spend their money, it may even take us closer to being out of the recession. $5.8 billion dollars is a lot of money.

Its kind of crazy to think that Americans spend so much on Halloween. But I guess when you think about it costumes, decorations, and candy can get pretty pricey. But I dont blame people for wanting to enjoy one night of freedom from all the stress of the economy and everything else going on in the country. Plus all of this money being brought into the companies has got to be helping the economy..even if it is only a little. Baby steps are what we're going to have to use if we ever even hope of the economy getting back to normal.

Halloween could not have come at a better time. I believe that this estimated $5.8 billion will have a major impact and boost our economy. This boost is well needed because we need to have our economy up and running again. Although I feel that when Christmas comes around there will be a much bigger boost in the economy.

i believe it will really help, i mean who doesnt celebrate halloween? its a holiday everyone does at least 1 thing for. alot of decorations will be bought. so therefor it would help out our economy

Tyler Michael Joseph O'Dell #2 :D said...

Halloween will greatly help our economy, almost everyone celebrates it. The total cost is expected to be 5.8 billion dollars, which i agree is extremely reasonable with all of the Halloween related goods bought.

I think that halloween is really going to help the economy. People are getting more comfortable about spending money on things. I think this halloween will be very good for the economy this year.

PotassiumBromide said...

It is somewhat surprising to learn that halloween is such a large economic event, at $5.8 billion. It also provides a day of fun for americans, something that is much needed right now. And, it will hopefully provide somewhat of a boost to the US economy.

I think that Halloween spending will do a lot of good for our economy. I know I personally am planning on spending money on some decorations for halloween.(: Dressing up pets, children, and yourselves is something that everyone will be doing. Buying the costumes for that will certainly boost up the economy.

asebastian5 said...

i think its a good thing that spending should go up for Halloween.the economy needs that boost. so people get to use their weird, funky, and strange minds to get the economy back to they way it was in 2008. its about time something like this to happen, we're in need of it.

LTimberman4 said...

I think fall and winter time in general are great times in the economy. Especially for Halloween and Christmas. I think it's good that Americans are gonna spend so much this Halloween, because it will definitely boost up the economy a little bit. I also think that the interest in Halloween is bigger this year as well.

tlahagu4 said...

People will spend a lot of money on Halloween it's crazy. It will definitely help the economy out a little bit. Holidays are always good for the economy and Halloween is one of the big ones.

SuttonAbney12 said...

Kids love Halloween. Tons of kids get dressed up and run around town collecting candy. Which means tons of people have to buy candy, decorations, ect. So many stores benefit from this which is good for our economy.

scaudle4 said...

Hopefully halloween spending can help the economy and peoples' attitudes. If people are able to buy things they want for the holiday, then moods about the holiday could be lifted. Also with more spending our economy could rise a bit as well.

JCallender2 said...

I don't believe Halloween spending will help the economy that much. After Halloween is over spending will drop dramatically while we wait for Thanksgiving, black friday, and of course christmas time to roll around. I think a combination of all the holidays will help us out but Halloween by itself is going to save no one.

katy02 said...

i love halloween and i think that people should spend money on something that they really want but still 5.8 billion dollars thats alot of money i think maybe candy companies should maybe scale down on the price of there candy but thats just my opionion

blake davis4 said...

Halloween will deffinately help the economy this year Even though i think its crazy to be spending that much money on it. espcially since its not one of the biggest Holidays. Well all we can really do is hope for a great turn out.

Every penny counts when it comes the U.S. economy. So we need to spend as much as we can on U.S. products so we can raise the economy. So therefore, Halloween spending is good.

Anonymous said...

This one is simple. Buy hershey before the surge of purchases and your set. Truly though this holiday is one of the few great stock stimulations we have.

DBrice5 said...

I think this halloween will really help the economy with the amount of spending thats going on for the holiday. Expectations are to hit 5.8 billion dollars. that ould make quite a spark in the economy.

Alex said...

Halloween is always good for bringing in much needed revenue into the economy,Especially this year. This Halloween has already surpassed the past years in terms of purchases. People must really be getting into the spirit with the decorations and mass purchases of candy. Hopefully this will help boost the economy and keep us on a steady path out and away from the recession.

This Halloween year is suppost to be the best year that people are buying Halloween decorations.More people have gone out this year and have purchased more halloween supplied then they have in years. More costumes are being bought and more people are just getting into the spirit with Halloween. This is a good tghing for our economy because people are spending more than usual which means there will be more money coming in.

joshBurns5 said...

"This year, people are expected to embrace Halloween with even more enthusiasm." and Americans will spend an average of $66.28 on Halloween. this will be great for the economy. with a 17.7% Increase than last year , this is a good indication that the economy is growing.
