Pepsi didn't advertise during the super bowl this year because they are trying out their year long campaign refresheverything. They felt like their commercial would be ignored because it would have been more serious than the others. This is actually a better use of money I think cause instead of millions of dollars going into a minute long commercial it goes to help people in many different areas.
I think Pepsi put there money into better use by doing the year long campaign instead of paying some millions of dollars to get air time during the super bowl commercials. Although seeing coke during the commercials and not pepsi somehow makes coke seem more popular.
I think that Pepsi made a money saving decision. In order to get a commercial played during the Super Bowl costs millions, sometimes billions of dollars. However, the reason it costs so much is because the super bowl has such a large audience. Since Pepsi did not air their commercial they may have lost many of possible views of their commercial. It will reach less people therefore it may not make them as much money.
Pepsi didn't advertise their drinks because they are smart enough to campaign their drinks instead of wasting it on super bowl commercials. Advertising costs less than paying millions of dollars towards commercials.
Pepsi is trying out their new year long campaign pepsi refresh everything and that is why they didn't show a commercial this year during the super bowl. Also their commercial if they would have aired one it would have been a more serious commercial instead of a funny one. Also they saved millions of dollars that they can use on something else like their project pepsi refresh everything.
Pepsi didn't advertise during the super bowl because I feel they didn't have enough money. I feel this way because the super bowls advertising is very expensive.
While Super Bowl commercials are the most popular places for companies to get their products into the public eye, for old favorites, like Pepsi, advertising is not as important. Pepsi has several fans that will continue to buy their product whether or not they see it on the commercials. Also, pepsi is now big enough that word of mouth can be just as effective as a popular TV spot.
I believe Pepsi didn't advertise during the super bowl because they are trying to save money although they will lose a lot of sales because so many people watch the super bowl and when a company has a memorable commercial more people will buy it. Pepsi may have thought they saved millions of dollars even though they did on commercials they will lose many costumers. Pepsi can possibly make up for there loss by making better commercials during the year.
I think what The Pepsi company did was a smart move. Instead of wasting millions of dollars on a 30 second slot. Instead they are going to give all of that money to projects, helping the people. This will get them more viewers and customers because people will see that they aren't just wasting their money on 30 second ads.
Pepsi is not advertising through big flashy commercials, but is instead taking a risk by doing something charitable that will not only help many people, but in return, advertise their products. People love big flashy commercials, but they also love being helped and seeing kind people, or companies for that matter, helping others out. To advertise this program would look hypocritical, as stated in the article, as the money used to pay for the commercial could have been used for something better, i.e. their new program, refresh everything.
The relatively small amount of money that could have been spent on a "serious" commercial may have been nothing compared to the ammount of money made by the company after people bought the product.
The "seriousness" or "entertainment value" of a commercial is not really a factor in the absorbtion of the information of a commercial. The commercial is designed to create a desire for the product, and a commercial, even though it may not be funny or entertaining, gets its point across.
With the sheer volume of viewers at the super bowl, even a simple pepsi commercial would have driven thousands to convenience stores all across america. THe money spent on advertising could have been easily made up, possibly even raking in a nice profit.
Pepsi skipped this years Super Bowl because their commercials wasn't as funny, but aimed for a more serious group of people. So, they felt less people wouldn't pay attention to the commercial. They saved money and spent it towards bettering their compeny.
God bless you, Pepsi. Using Super Bowl money and doing things like investing into the comunity? This is a bloody revolution!!! Yes, a long term campaign is much better than a 60 second moment in a sport that is over bloated and over analazed. Still, why we care so much about the commericals in Super Bowl is beyond my understanding.
Pepsi may not have advertised in the game because they did not like the teams, or maybe they just dint have the money. there could be many reasons for not advertising but i think it is because of what JacWilliams said. i think pepsi is trying out their year long campaign.
Pepsi stayed out of the Super Bowl this year because it is helping other people in need of help. They're going for a different approach to get the peoples attention.
They are putting better use to their money. Sitting out of the super bowl one year won't hurt them. They are using the money better by doing the one year campaign to refresh the product.
pepsi is using there money to help out others instead of just spending one big chunk of money on one advertisement. there spreading out there advertisements to get the point across to more people. it wont be long till people forget about the games commercials anyways. do you remember any of last years commercials?
The reason that Pepsi didn't advertise during this super bowl is because , they felt the need to sit out so that they could save money instead of spending millions on a 30 seconds commerical.
I think Pepsi took the year off because they are working on refreshing and renewing their products. So sooner or later the are going to come out with some new commercial advertising their new stuff.
Pepsi made the right choice skipping out on the super bowl in my opinion because they saved a lot of money this way that they can put towards more advertisement.
Pepsi made the right choice skipping out on the super bowl in my opinion because they saved a lot of money this way that they can put towards more advertisement.
i think they didn't advertise during the super bowl because they wanted to save money. they wouldn't make a big enough profit to make up the millions they would have spent for one minute
because they would spend more money than their budget prob allows them to spend ......So they stuck with the plan they had if sales where low they would of had it the program
i agree with eholbrook2426, that Advertising costs less than paying millions of dollars towards commercials so pepsi was smart enough to campaign other drinks.
I think Pepsi didn't advertise during this year super bowl because Pepsi have been doing commercial for how long an every year the prices gets higher an higher each year so they thought they could cut back of pepsi commercial.....
Pepsi not spending there money on the super bowl helps out a lot. Cause then there not spending all ther money on there product but spending there money on the helps of others so they can help out more people then trying to sell there soda. So this can be very help full around the world and will bring us much closer to them but also this could just be another scam to try and get us to like then just because they put all that money in to heath and everything.Cause then people will buy it so more money will go to Heath and all that but then they are still helping so I guess this is a win win situation.
I think that pepsi inc. did right about not advertising the pepsi commercial. I think that the money could have and should been spent for better purposes...... who spends millions of dollars and a darn commercial add))))))))) where they do that at :-00000)?????!!!!!!!
Pepsi was simply trying to turn from spending so much money on mass market, and save their money. They decided to go the social media route. They are saving so they can give different programs.
In my opinion I think it was a good idea that Pepsi company decided to not advertise this Super Bowl. Would have been expensive for a commercial. And I think they wouldn't have gotten more money than they would have spent.
i don't think pepsi wanted to waste there money on a commercial that i don't think would have meant anything just because the super bowl was going on. i think it was better for pepsi to wait for the super bowl to be over and air the commercial then and their commercial was for something good.
Pepsi didn't advertise during the super bowl. Which I feel is a smart idea because they already have a year long campaign going in right now. So advertising would just of been a waste of money. And in this economic situation no one can spare any money
well pepsi has always been a big name i think its smart for them to not advertise in the super bowl cause times are hard right now and they need to focus on their selfs
pepsi plans to give away 20million in grant money to fund projects in six categories health , arts , and , culture food, and shelter and more. They decided to skip the superbowl beause they are trying to campaign I think pepsi should save there money and help other people instead of putting all their money in to the commercial.
The reason pepsi chose not to advertise during the super bowl is because they are trying something new thats both good for pepsi, and the communtiy. they felt that a super bowl ad would contradict their grants and online advertising. Also they feel that their online advertising is more interactive that a super bowl commercial.
Pepsi to me made a good call on not advertising during the Superbowl. Everyone goes the store and see's it there. It's really not that big of a deal not to post a million dollar commercial for 30 seconds when they can help out many other people with that money. Way to go Pepsi :)
Pepesi made a somewhat good idea. They saved money from not doing the minute comercial for this years superbowl but.. Coke didn't. If they think about it.. which on is more popular now? Well honestly, i doesn't matter to me. I'd chose pepsi over coke any day (:
I think Pepsi used their money better by doing the year long campaign instead of paying some millions of dollars to get air time during the super bowl commercials. They felt like their commercial would be ignored because it would have been way more serious than the other commercials played during the superbowl.
Pepsi's year long refresh plan is their main goal. Helping and giving back appeals to people in other ways than just flashy commercials. I believe pepsi will probably benefit more from a strategically planned year long event that appeals to more than just sports fan. I think this was more than a great move on pepsi's part. Giving back and gaining at the same time
I think the reason that Pepsi didn't advertise during the Super Bowl is because the condition the recession is in I don't think that Pepsi wanted to. Waste millions of dollars on a big flashy commercials just to compete with others companies, especially just for a commercial that you're only going to see for one day.
All the pepsi advertis though the year but when the super bowl came the didn't show it. Pepsi is a popular drink in the united states cause alot of people dink pepsi.

Honestly I think they were trying to save money. 2 mill for one commercial is crazy. Pepsi advertises as much as it is skipping a Super Bowl wouldnt be a factor.
Pepsi did not advertise during the super bowl because they already have a campaign going on. So it would really not help or of hurt them so pepsi saved money

I agree with JacWilliams7. I think they saved money instead of doing the commericial.

Pepsi Took The Year Off From The Super Bowl This Year Because They're Helping People In Other Areas And Working On Refreshing Their Company!
I think they spend a lot of money on the super bowl. They can use that money for people.
pepsi got enough money to sit out of what they want

Pepsi did a very generous thing this super bowl. Instead of spending a bunch of money on a 30 second commercial they wanted to help the community.
