I believe that the Egyptian government is overreacting. Although swine flu is a serious health threat, there have been no cases of it reported in Egypt. Maybe the Egyptian government is simply looking for a reason to get rid of the pig farms since most who reside in Egypt are Muslim and do not consume pork anyway.
THIS IS STRAIGHT UP WRONG AND IMMORAL. How can you just kill animals like that? They don't even have any valid proof they are infected but kill them anyways???? Thats a waste. Its like that one movie quarantine where there is this spread of rabies in this apartment house and they lock everyone in, including the non infected people and they don't even care if they die. You would never believe people could be so cruel.
this is wrong but i dont care either way. there is no reason to kill all of the pigs and that is what is wrong, but i am happy about all the meat there will be to sell now, hopefully the prices will go down now. i just hope they dont start killing any more animals.
I think that people should take measures to take care of themselves and their country. but, the measure that the egyptians are implicating are extreme. the virus hasn't even reached their country.
I understand that the Egyptian government is just trying to protect their people and be preventative against the Swine Flu but to slaughter all the pigs in Egypt without any proof of infection is wrong. I dont think they should kill all the pigs especially considering their are no reported cases of Swine Flu.
This is definitely an over-reaction on the part of the Egyptian government, although the Swine flu started as a mutated virus in pigs that became able to harm humans, killing the pigs NO solves nothing, especially when they have no reported cases in Egypt yet to begin with. Governments aren't doing great in general eh? ;)
Talk about your major overreaction! Geeze! Killing ALL of their pigs? I understand they want to protect their citizens, but still. That's insane. Just because there is a scare about swine flu doesn't mean you should go slaughtering every pig in your country. Those pigs might not have contracted the virus. The only plus will be a surplus of bacon!
It would seem as though slaughtering 350,000 pigs is an unjust and cruel thing to do. But, on the other hand only 10% of the total population is allowed to eat the pork, or the Christian minority. With this in mind, I think it is still unacceptable to do such a thing to animals.
That is A LOT of pigs to slaughter. I can understand what they were thinking but thats going a little but extreme. I mean sure they think that it will help the situation but apparantly you cant get the swine flu from eating pigs or pigs products so I'm not really understanding the logic behind this.
The Egyptians are doing what they feel is best for their country. Although most do not agree with their extreme measures, me included, no one can tell them otherwise. People feel that it is unjust to slaughter that many pigs, but lets face it, they were going to be slaughtered at some point in time. The only thing lost in the whole ordeal was money.
Slaughtering 350,000 pigs sounds absolutely ridiculous to most but when you think about it, all those pigs were going to get slaughter anyways. If Egypt feels that killing 350,000 pigs is what they need to do to protect themselves from the swine flu thats there decision to make not ours.
i agree with just about everyone. Egypt is over-reacting. Granted it is called "swine" flu. but the flu has mutated from pig to human. to human to human. its kinda funny actually. This is also reminding me of Mexico's stance on this issue. Mexico has cancelled most schools for the rest of the year. (just what they need). Most transportation has been lifted. And public sporting events are no more. com'on people this is outrageous. oink oink
This is just overkill not to mention unneccessary. They have already found that pigs arent the main way to get this flu it is just how it started. This was a very bad move by the Egyptian government.
It's definitely over-reaction on the part of the Egyptians but it does make sense since the majority of the population is Muslim. I mean The majority of the population doesn't even eat pork. The government just wants to ensure that the whole country doesn't suffer for the pork eating habits of the minority Christians.
The egyptians are definitely overreacting. Even those this disease is going around, killing all of these pigs isn't going to stop it. All of these people already have it, so it won't be stopped unless they make a vaccine to stop it.
I feel sorry for them nasty pigs. There is really no proof they have anything to do with the swine flu. Its simply the egyptian gov trying to get rid of some pig farms.
these people are hardcore, i guess they were just worried. i mean i dont see the point. i like pigs. i think people are scared. which they have the right to be. its scary.
I think that the Egyptain government is a little crazy for this one. The swine flu does not seem that threatening and from many people it is not considered a threat, I heard that the Egyptain government overreacted when the bird flu was going around too. I think that everything is blown out of porportion these days
Lol, Animal Farm. This is a complete over-reaction on the part of the Egyptian government due largely impart to the widely held religious doctrine of the region.
Sometimes, I would like to be in people's minds for just 5 minutes. Long enough to know what the freak they were thinking by saying this was a good idea. I mean seriously. And this whole swine flu thing has kinda died a little now so I think I can safely say that Egypt was being way crazy. Not necessary, guys.
I think this is very unnecessary. The egyptian gov is definately over reacting. They are killing all of pigs when they are not 100% sure that they carry the disease. WOW...

What the heck?! that is ridiculous! they need to stop killing our good bacon! ha just kidding. but seriously this is really uncalled for.
