i dont really think there sound be much dispute that this is a depression. i do not think it is close to the great depression, but it is one. i think it will get better, times are different and i think we know now what to do to stop what happened during the great depression.
At this point, you get a different answer depending on who you ask. It just isn't as clear cut as it was 45 years ago. As for the recession worsening into a "without a doubt" depression, we can hope that the economists are right about the safeguards that didn't exist before the Great Depression and their ability-to an extent- protect us.
Depression? No, I dont think so. i mean it can be argued that yes we are struggling right now, but no where near the great depression. Now we know what to do to prevent that from happening again. And I see this as a learning experience and through Barack Obamas Stimulus we will pull through.
I think that to say we are in depression would be alittle much. Our economy is going down, but we haven't reached the point where we were 45 years ago with the Great Depression. When our economy gets that low again, then you can say we are in depression. Right now, I would just say that we are in economic downfall that continues to get worse everyday. Depression seems very likely in the near future to me.
I think that right now we are in a mild depression, but it is not near as severe at the Great Depression. I also do not believe that it will elevate to the point where it is as bad as the Great Depression. We learned a lot from the Great Depression and I think that because of the knowledge we have gained, we will not allow history to repeat itself. As Obama said, "we will rebuild, we will recover."
I don't think we're necessarily in a depression right now, but I think we're on the right track. If we don't start getting ourselves back together, we're definitely going to find ourselves much worse off in the future than we are right now.
Since when was our economy perfect? As far as I know never. This is just a downfall. The economy will always have its ups and downs but at this point, I must say it is not the worst. I do not think we are in a depression and I believe we will not have one in the near future. I may be a little optimistic, but since we have identified the problems I think we will better prepare ourselves to prevent a depression from happening. Like I said it is just a downfall.
I guess we are in a depression, kinda. I mean it's not as lurid as the one in 1929, but nonetheless, obviously something terrible is happening to our economy. And when our economy goes bad, so do all the goons in our country. Whatever you wanna call this situation with this economy, you can't doubt that it is causing some depression among people...:/
Yes, I think we are in a mild depression, but it is no where near as bad as in the 1930's. I hope it doesn't get that bad either. We have many of people out of work and that are suffering financially. We will come out of it though, with no worries I believe!
Our economy is in the tanker. we have to stop comparing the state of the economy now to back in 1929. times are different, as was the economy. With as many lay-offs, bailouts, and banks getting KO'd itd be impossible to say we arent in a depression.
I think many people like to avoid calling it a "depression". But this viewpoint is actually hurting our ability to deal with it. People have to realize that ignoring it and expecting it to fix itself is the WORST possible thing we can do, we all need to come to terms with what we have, and move towards fixing it.
Are we in the Depression? Wel many people do, and by reading the numbers of money lost, and unemployment rates and people getting fired, i would have to agree. because thing are getting worse and they will stay that way unless the economy steps up.
This is definitely not even close to the Great Depression. I do not believe that we are currently in a depression, but if we keep on the same track we're on now.. there will be one.
I think that this recession may seem bad to us but its really only a downfall. This is no where near as sever as the Great Depression. As always things could be worse
everyone is saying this is a depression but they dont know how bad yet. it is definately not as bad as the great depression. we just have to wait it out and see how bad it will end up being
I think that the depression is coming but its not their yet. Many people think that we are because we have a little money, and also because people are loosing their jobs, and is getting laid off.

i beleive that we are at the peak of a recession and beginning to enter a depression. with unemployment being as high as it is, a depression is a likely classification except our population is much higher than it was 50 years ago. just like all depression we will be in the clear hopefully sooner than we think
I wouldn't consider this a depression, because even though we are in an economic recession, it's not to horrible. Yet. It's on it's way towards a depression, I know that, but like I said, I wouldn't consider this a depression.

I believe that our country is just in an economic downfall right now, we are not nearly as bad off as the times during the great depression.

I think we are on our way to a depression, and if we can't turn this economy-truck around fast, we are gonna fall off the economy bridge.
