Summer Reading #11: Biggest Oil Drop in 17 Years

Today was a rocky day for the US Economy. Read the article listed on CNN Money and respond to its message.
"Crude falls $6.45 a barrel - 2nd largest price drop in dollar terms - as Fed chief indicates inflation and high fuel prices will cut into U.S. demand for oil." CNN

That's good, but I hope it just doesn't go back up again. Maybe gas stations around the area will drop 10 cents or something.

People are cutting back on gas consumption, and I think that will show at the pmups later this year.

The price of crude oil fell $6.44 a barrel, making the cost per barrel $138.74. Maybe the price of gas will go down.

Hopefully high energy costs don't force businesses to push the extra charges through to consumers, as mentioned in the article.

I'm glad that the price of oil has gone down. Hopefully the price of gas will go down. Many Americans have beenhaving a hard time due to the rising prices of gas and almost everything else. This would make life a little bit easier for us.

I am really glad that the price of oil has gone and hopefully this will eventually result in the price of gas going down. For a lot of people that price of gas has taken over the lifes of many Americans deciding where they go or what they do even. Cheaper gas prices would help a lot of Americans.

It is a great thing that the price of oil has fallen but i hope that this does not cause Americans to stop finding and using new sources of fuel. Though gas is an easy source of fuel the entire world cant run off of it forever.

Thats great that the oil prices decreasd but the question is with a big decrease will it increase that much more?
Hopefully it will keep going down, so that hopefully gas prices can go down as well.

Well, its several days after this event has occured and nonetheless, the price of gas has dropped. Gas prices haven't reduced dramarically, but any reduction gives our wallets a break. I think the U.S. needs to continue pumping oil in new reserves to reduce oil prices even more. Businesses should not push extra charges, but leave the consumers warned about the high energy prices.

While this decrease was the second greatest drop in the price of oil, the drop was only 4.4%. In 1991 when the decrease in the price of oil was the highest, oil for a barrel was not nearly as much as it is today. So, the droppage was 33%. While the price of oil did drop, we have to remember it was not too significant. Maybe gas will go down a penny or so. Hmm. Maybe I'm just a pessimist.

Well im glad that the price of oil has gone done, hopefully the price of gas will follow and go down. Americans have been having a problem with all this chaos with gas, maybe this will make life easier.

It is nice to hear that the price of oil has dropped by over 9 dollars, but, it really doesn't seem so nice when you read that the price only fell 4.4%.

Finally, some relief at the pumps. Gas today was $3.50 a gallon. I guess it is true that when people cut back the price of oil/gas will drop (or maybe OPEC was feeling nice). I still feel that gas should only be $2.00 at the maximum.

It has definitely affected gas prices. I read in the paper two days ago that people are expecting gas to stay between $3.50 and $3.70 for a while. Now I'm not sure how accurate that is, but we can hope, right? The article also said it wasn't supposed to hit $4.00 again til next spring. But with the price of crude oil fluctuating like this, anything could happen.

I think that the drop in the crude oil price is a good thing. Hopefully the gas prices will stay away from $4 per gallon for a while. We just need to keep persuing cheaper and more fuel efficient ways of transportation. Also, I hope that the high energy prices don't cause businesses to charge the consumers extra.

We certainly have the knowledge to find some other way to travel but we just need to put ideas into effect. Just use solar power. But for now I personally am thrilled that the price of crude oil dropped by $6.44 because that means that gas prices have lowered also. I just got a car a few months ago and was shocked on how high priced gas was. I am much happier now that it has gone down.

Definitely a good thing if it's keeping gas prices away from $4. Hopefully it will stay this way for some time.

It is really good that the price of oil went down. But hopefully it stays down or maybe even goes down more but don't go back up again. Many people have been having gas price problems and now that it has gone down, it could be getting better for them but stil not how we all want it to be.

I'm glad to see the price of oil dropping. Who knows how long it will keep dropping before it will rise again. This is a great thing for me as I have to pay for gas, and it can fall as much as it wants, I will not mind. This will also help with the companys that have to deal with this on a day to day basis, such as trucking companies.

I think it its good that the price dropped for a barrel, hopefully gas pricing will go down too. But this has had a major impact on peoples lives today so it will hepl al of us becuase nobody likes the price of gas today rich or poor.

This is good but hopeufully things will stay this way and the people were not just feeling nice. This has helped some relief with the gas efforts. Better at $3.50 then $4.00. Hopefully the gas prices will still decrease along with oil.

Price of oil has decreased, which is a good thing. It's amazing that it's actually the biggest oil drop in 17 years. Hopefully gas prices would go down next to make life a little bit easier.
