Would I spend $230 dollars on shoes? No. Why? Because there are far better things to spend money on besides something to put on my feet. Think of the possibilities one has with $230 dollars. At least one could fill up one's gas tank. Or at least a half tank. Why do I think Nike would charge this much? It's quite obvious that Michael Jordan is still, after years of retirement, the most popular player in sports. His name is absolutely synonymous with the number 23. The marketing gimmick of 23 will work. It's hard to believe it, but people will probably feel a little more justified in their spending because the price of 230, to match the edition of the shoe, the number of stores, the number of pairs, and Jordan's jersey number, is "clever" or "neat".
$230 for a pair of shoes? No thank you, there are pletny of other shoes that are much cheaper and still have style. It's almost unbelievable that this will work, but it will. I know at least 20 or 30 people that would willingly hand over $250+ for the latest pair of "air jordans." This just shows what people would do to have the newest and coolest things out.
If I really wanted the shoes that bad i would pay that much for them but i dont think they are worth it. I think if someone has the money to buy them and they want them then its ok to buy them. Personally I could buy three pairs of good shoes that I like for the price of one pair of Jordans. People who buy them probably just want to show off that they have them.
I couldnt see myself paying $230 for a pair of shoes when you could easily get 2 or 3 for the same price. And of course that price is going to go down once they have been out for a while so if I really wanted them i could wait.I gotta hand it to nike though, Jordans might be the most popular shoe to ever come out and I'm sure Nike has made a killing on it.People will do anything to look good and if that means dropping $230 on a pair of shoes they will and Nike knows this and is obviously taking advantage of that.
