It does not surprise me that credit cards are having trouble. the fraud rates are up and its really the fault of the people. personally i am against the use of this "plastic." it ruins people quicky due to the fact that its the use of money that one does not have.
Out with the old in with new. If the magnetic stripe credit card is causing this much felony then it needs to be burned, buried, and never used again. Even now with the updated cards there still is fraud but not as much as with the magnetic it seems like.
This article is pretty interesting. I This new credit card idea is hopefully a way to cut down the numbers of credit card fraud. A fact that interested me is the fact that the mag strip on the back of the card was made in the sixties, i thought it was more recent than that. But, like i said, hopefully this new technology is more secure for Americans' identities, and financial status. I guess we'll have to find out.
Credit card & financial fraud have been big issues for a long time. This article mentioned that just last year there was a theft that stole millions of credit card numbers. The new addition of a chip rather than the magnetic strip seems to be better, aside from the fact that our banks are still using the previous systems. The chip definitely sounds like it works better, but this won't affect us in the new future. Only tourists that go into Europe will experience problems from using their cards with the magnetic strip.
I think that this is a good thing as long as we are sure that the system or systems replacing credit cards are effective. Personally, I don't use credit cards because it makes more sense to just pay with money. This sounds like a good idea, especially if it can prevent fraud.
I personally have never seen the "magnetic stripe credit card". so by getting rid of it, in my opinion, doesnt mean that much. To handle credit cards nearly everyday and not come across any means that not too many people even had them in the first place. I believe that criminals will be criminals and will be able to steal, decode, hack, whatever means necessary, in order to get what they want regardless of what we change in the way money is spent.
Personally I'm not very fond of credit cards, I can maybe see having ONE in case of emergencies but other than that I think they do more harm then good. Perhaps it is time to ditch them.
With having credit cards of course there is going to be fraud. There will most likely be fraud in everything that we come up with. We live in an imperfect world so there is no way that everyone can be satisfied with something. There will always be complaining and issues that people have. I think its a good idea to try and improve our ways of handling and protecting our money.
This is an interesting article because i think if the magnetic strip is causing so much fraud, then we should have gotten rid of it along time ago. the fact that it was made in the sixties is very surprising since there is a new and improved cell phone or computer every month, I was really shocked that we have not already gotten rid of this strip and gone to something a lot more advanced but its not to late to get rid of this to cut down on crime because identity theft is a horrible thing and it needs to controlled or stopped.
This article really shows how easy it is to fraud. This mag strip card is to old and is to easily fraud. I needs to be changed very quickly. Europe is already trying to change and we need to do the same thing. We are still using the same old system as the 1960's when this card first came out. This is crazy that we haven't changed it yet with all the crimes and complaints about this.
Credit cards seem old to me so bringing something new in sounds good. Its a disapointment that so many frauds can be caused with credit cards. I like the fact that the U.S. is trying to go far and beyond what Europe is going to do. I don't trust the idea of keeping money on your phones or any electronics because they are never reliable. But, they may prove me wrong. Im glad to hear that we are creating something new even though, we always are.
With credit cards of course they will have issues with fraud and such. Personally it's much easier to pay with cash. With cash you know how much your spending, and the amount you have on you is the amount someones going to get if they rob you. With technology ways are improving to better this. I like the new idea with using chips is a good idea. With the magnetic strip there is to much fraud going on to keep it, we should of gotten rid of it awhile ago. It's good tp improve our ways of handling money.
It seems like credit cards just aren't a good thing. They can easily ruin peoples' credit and are prone to fraud. It happens all the time and way more than it needs to. I don't really see how a chip will make a credit card safer than a magnetic strip, but hopefully it will help. I personally am against using a credit card. I feel safer just paying with cash.
I believe that if the magnetic stripe credit card is causing so much felony and fraud then the card should definitely be replaced. Honestly I find it interesting that these cards haven't already been done away with. Fraud has been a huge problem with credit cards, and if these cards are the reason why then they should have been replaced a long time ago. It's good that we have access to new technology that may allow us to eliminate fraud completely. What we need is a secure way to protect our money without the possibility of fraud.
"End of the magnetic stripe credit card," was interesting to me as well. New technology is being invented everyday and it's surprising to have an invention from the 60's still in use today. Fraud has always played a huge role in the lives of credit card holders. I think they are simply a disaster waiting to happen. They put people in debt everyday and it's half the reason our economy is the way it is today.
credit card fraud cut down?! finally those old cards need to be destroyed and never used again.i rather just use money to many things can go wrong with credit cards.
I think that this is a very interesting article. I believe that if the magnetic strip is causing so much fraud, then we should have gotten rid of it along time ago. What caught my attention the most, was the fact that the magnetic strip on the back of the card was made in the sixties. I honestly did not think that they had credit cards back then. I also believe that by getting rid of magnetic strip credit cards, the fraud rate will go way down. We will just have to wait and see....

In my opinion credit cards are just not a good idea. They too easily ruin peoples credit and are easy to steal from. Since the fraud rate is up so high I think it's a good idea to get rid of the "magnetic stripe credit card"
it was only a matter of time before they came up with some new way to do creidet cards i mean in some ways in it is a good thing out with the old in with new but for me i will choose not to even use creidet cards it is way to easy to get out of hand
I think updating our society's system and using pins or chips instead of credit cards are a good idea because it will help prevent fraud and loss. I am a firm believer that if there is something new and better you should always use it.
The amount of information that credit cards can hold is phenominal! This is also very dangerous for people's safety and security identity. In a world today there are just way to many bad things that can happen to people electronically. We really do need a safer way to do this.
I think that this is a good thing as long as we realize the systems replacing credit cards must be effective. Personally, I don't use credit cards because it's easier to just pay with money. This sounds like a good idea, especially if it can prevent fraud.
credit cards are out they will come out with something else to use just cuz they can and what not it will be something bulit into your phone or something like that because it will be easy and convinet.
This is the first ive heard of people finally getting rid of the credit card there have been problems surrounding credit cards for years. Wether its of cards being stolen of if the card is broken or hacked.I think we should follow Europe and start to diminish the credit card.
I think that the new microchip idea is an efficient way to turn away people who do fraud. I always have thought that credit cards as useless because it can ruin many people but that's just my opinion. The new microchip idea works but doesn't totally get rid of credit card theft & fraud, so I am not a fan.
I wasn't very surprised to see that credit cards are having so much trouble with fraud. If this magnetic strip is causing the problems we just need to get rid of it for good and come up with something better to use that wont be so easy to use fraud with.
