"Super Bowl and Economics," was interesting, one that I enjoyed. It amazes me how much money is put out and gained for one football game. Advertisements cost $2.7 million for 30 second showings, I think that is ridiculous. Why in the world should a commercial cost that much, I feel like that's a category in which our economy is wasteful with money. Also the fact that 48 percent of high definition TV owners who call themselves sports fans go out and buy new TV's, just for this game! Honestly that amazes me. The game is always a win for the snack and beverage creators, they hit their biggest sales during this time of year. Go Greenbay Packers!! =)
After reading this blog I realized how much money goes out just for the Super Bowl. It's really crazy how the super bowl is the most snack eating time of the year? So many things go out for the super bowl and also the thing that surprised me was the millions that go out for advertising. I mean is it really that important to make a ad that lasts 30 seconds but costs so much? I don't think so. I feel at times we waste our money, but at at he same time I will admit it's something fun. People selling things so early for the next super bowl shows that the number of fans is extravagant.
Wow, the super bowl takes up a lot of money. Millions of dollars for like 30second is a bit extravagant but oh so enjoyable to watch, which is why. It's a football game, it's the american sport!
I think this was a good article overall. It funny to think about the amount of money people pay to get a commercial spot during the super bowl. If you think about it though, it really is a good idea because so many people watch the super bowl, that you are bound to make money from all the people that are watching so the commercial probably pays for itself in the end. I do however think that people who go out and buy a new tv just for the super bowl is stupid. It may help the economy right now but when people start losing money because they decided to buy a new tv for the super bowl, they will wish they would have used that money on something more important. The snack and drink industries thrive during this time of the year because people always need good snacks for the super bowl, so that is one way that the super bowl really helps the economy because those places that sale all the food for the games make a lot of money and the actual manufactures make a lot of money because snack and drinks are more in demand. Overall i think that the super bowl does good and bad things for the economy because people waste a lot of money on snacks and drinks and new tvs but it also brings a lot of publicity to new and old products and will help fuel the economy throughout the year.
Super bowl is one of the most watched football games of the year it is amazing to me how much money is put out to produce the super bowl to just have a 30 second commercial it is 2.7 million dollars to me advertisement for that little of time is not worth it as they are funny and entertaining to watch it is not worth that much money at all. To read that people would just go out and buy a new high deff tv is absolutely nuts and a waste of money super bowl is a great game to watch and a lot of fun to get together with family and friends butt the money that is wasted is un called for just flat out ridicules and i feel like the economy just takes a hinder from it
The superbowl has to do with economics because its all about the money now companys will pays 10 of millions of dollars for 10secs of airtime and people are willing to pay 100s of dollars to a couple thousands just for a crapy ticket and spend almost 10000 for a good seat.
I really don't care to much for football, but it is not surprising to me to see how much money the rest of America shells out for one game. I knew the Super Bowl was a big fundraiser for the NFL but I had no idea it was to such an extent; $2.7 million for a thirty second commercial?! That's just insane. However if thats what it takes to help keep our economy afloat and people have the money to pay for it; then I say have at it.
This was a good article because the packers are one of my favorite teams and they got to the super bowl! i read that the advertisements cost way to much for who sees them i dont think its worth it for all that. and like 50 percent of hd tvs get bought by people who already have won. It was a good game go packers!!
I'm glad the Green Bay Packers won, and I didn't know that the losing team still got a lot of money. The Super Bowl seem really expensive. I knew that the commercials were expensive to air during the Super Bowl but I had no idea it was $2.7 million for a 30 second showing, thats ridiculous.
I always knew the Super Bowl was a big money making event, but I never thought about how it related to economics. Considering that the production of snack related foods increases by ten million pounds alone, that's insane. I also found it interesting that over 36% of people only watch it for the commercials (that cost almost $3 million for a 30 second clip). This helps companies a ton considering all the people that are watching at once.
So.. $2.7 million spent last night on advertising, alone, for the super bowl. Wow. I think it was well worth it though. There were only a few Super Bowl commercials that I didn't laugh at. Especially the Dorrito commercials. :) Anyway, that seems like so much money to spend for a 30 second clip! Seems like a waste of money, but at least it's circulating And being spent.
personally, i'm not a huge fan of sports. what happened to just enjoying a game? It is crazy how much money our nation spends on this. obama cuts money for defense but this much money is being spend on nothing but advertisement, snacks, beer, and television.....wow, no wonder some other countries look down on us.
Personally, after reading the article, I found the Super Bowl to be even more of a waste of time. I know, I'm one of the few Americans in the nation to think football isn't as amazing as people portray it to be, but to waste so much money on a sport is ridiculous. Millions of dollars for millions of fans is too much. Obama talks about how we're spending money on useless things, and I believe to be spending that much money on a sport is useless. I'm not saying that the commercials and halftime show aren't enjoyable to watch, but maybe we could spend a little less on our entertainment programs. We don't need to waste more and more money just to make the Super Bowl better than the year before. It's pointless; but this is what America wants.
the article super bowl and economics is pretty interesting, what really got me was how expensive the comercials are. personally if i had 2.7 million i wouldnt spend it in literally 30 seconds. also that money could of been spent on so many things that are way more important!
I liked this article. My favorite team won the Superbowl last night so I'm getting happy every time I hear about about it. I wasn't very surprised by this article. I know that there are huge amounts of money to be made from selling football merchandise. This would be especially true during a game as big as the Superbowl. So many people watch the Superbowl that Fox can get away with charging any amount they want for advertising.
I think that this article is very interesting. I never knew that people spent that much money just on a super bowl. To me, this is a waste of money. So much money is spent on commercials that will only be aired once! This is kinda ridiculous in my opinion.
This article was pretty interesting to see all the fact's and statistic's about price's and such. It's insane that commercial's cost that much for such a short time. So much money is spent on just this game, but many people take at as a big deal. Although it is fun to watch them, and just get togehter with people to watch the game. People are willing to go all out for this even though our economy may be in a slump. This is great for the snack producers, with such an increase in purchase of their product’s.
WOW! It never registered to me that the Super Bowl raked in so much money. I mean I knew that advertisement space was worth millions in itself but I never thought about how it effected the food companies as well. But it makes sense. During the game all we do is eat and we are part of the 36% that only watches for the commercials. But this was a very interesting article and i really enjoyed reading it.
I actually liked the article "Super Bowl and Economics" at my house the Super Bowl is a big deal. I've always known that the Super Bowl made a lot of money but I had no idea that companies were willing to pay near three million dollars for a thirty second comercial. The game is a big deal, but I feel that they are wasting money on a silly comercial that no one is going to remember.
This blog made me lean towards both ways. Yes $2.7 million dollars is very ridiculous for 30 seconds of air time on television. But during that 30 seconds, imagine how much money that company is going to make from the people watching. A lot of people watch the super bowl. Which means a lot of people just seen that advertisement.
This article is actually not very shocking to me. I mean obviously people are going to pay thousands to millions of dollars to have their advertisements on TV at a time when such a large group of americans are watching. It is pretty crazy how much people actually do pay for it though. I mean i could understand a little more than 30 seconds for millions of dollars. I feel that America is very wasteful in this way.
I was really surprised on how much I didn't think about the Super bowl and economics being together. It makes me realize how much just everything is involved with the Super bowl and making money. Al the hotels that fans go to and all the restaurants being eating at. Then you have a commercial being 2.7 million dollars just for 30 second air time thats just insane. So I guess the Super bowl isn't just for football fans but many other companies and businesses.
I always knew the superbowl brought in a lot of money but I never knew exactly how much. I think it is a really good thing for it to bring in as much money as it does because our economy needs it, and even though the commercials are expensive think of how much the companies are actually going to make because of it...that is helping our economy. woohoo!
Advertisements cost $2.7 million for 30 second showing. We spend alot of money on wasteful things. honestly cant all that money be going to say are education? The entire super bowl is a huge waste of money. Its a football game why does it get to be so special?
It's not that shocking to realize how much money people spend on the Super Bowl. The only thing that really surprised me was how much it costs just to have a 30 second commercial run during the game. But it makes sense to pay that much for one commercial, because almost everyone in the world will be watching it. I must say, going all out for the Super Bowl is a tradition in my family and I know we contribute to the money that all these people make from this one huge sporting event.
I really don't care to much for football, but it is not surprising to me to see how much money the rest of America wastes for one game. I knew the Super Bowl was a big fundraiser for the NFL but I had no idea it was to such an extent; $2.7 million for a thirty second commercial?! That's just insane. However if thats what it takes to help keep our economy afloat and people have the money to pay for it; then I say have at it.
I was surprised by this article. I wasn't aware that such a large amount of money was put forth to the Superbowl's advertising. I knew there was a lot, but not quite that much. I think that with the current crisis in our economy, that this large spending of money is unnecessary. Good appealing commercials can be made with a lower budget, and they should be in the future.
This article was surprising to read! The Superbowl is obviously a huge deal in America, but I never realized how much money goes into this one football game. Its amazing how much money a company will spend just for their commercial to show during the game. A 30 second commercial can cost up to almost $3 million. That's insane! Also, the cost of Superbowl tickets are extremely expensive. The snack industry experiences a huge gain in money during this time, because everyone has Superbowl parties. The fact that some people go out and buy a brand new TV just for this one game is a little ridiculous. It seems like a huge waste of money to me. These are several ways in which the Superbowl affects the economy.
This article was very interesting. i had know idea how much money was spent on the super bowl. That is funny to me because the super bowl is only one game out of the year that is probably the most important day of the year to some people. Knowing that people go all out on this occasion is crazy to think about.
It is crazy how much money is put into the super bowl. 2.7 million for 30 second commercial, that is way to much. Also how both teams win or lose make thousands of dollars just by going to the super bowl. I think too much money is being spent on one football game and that we could use this money for so many more important things.
I couldn't believe the numbers for just a thirty second commercial! I mean yeah it's a big event but that's just mind blowing numbers. And all the people that go out and buy new t.v.s just for the game is amazing. Btw I'm with Alonna. Go Green Bay:)
I don't think i've ever realized or thought about how much money is exactly spent on the super bowl. To many, the super bowl is like the biggest event of the year and so they go all out and spend a bunch of money just to make the expiernce better or more exciting. Fans aren't the only people that spend tons of money for the event. Advertismenst for the super bowl cost $2.7 million just for 30 seconds. Thats crazy! Honestly I believe that that money could be spent on much better things.
This amount of money being spent on the superbowl is disturbing and seemingly unneccessary. However, for entertainment what can be better to invest in than an event that HALF OF THE UNITED STATES WATCHED?? so yes, this is a lot of money, but its just business in a smart, efficient way.
This article was pretty interesting to see all the fact's and statistic's about price's and such. It's insane that commercial's cost that much for such a short time. I think that shows how our economy just waste our money like its nothing theres no reason to spend that much money on a commercial.
