Valentines day is a day to represent the relationship. It,s obvious and reasonable that people will spend more money. Why not? It's important to keep the relationship spiced. A waste of money? I can't say, but it certainly shows how people think. The price of a gift never shows the thought in it. I would say spend some money but also throw some fun creativity into it. Even in married couples, they should stay with the speed. Being 100% taken does not mean that they should give up on the romance.
I believe that valentines day isn't really about money. i think it should be about relationships. although, if you have cash to spend, why not give it to your sweetheart?? its all about the romance! haha
I really don't think the price should matter at Valentine's Day. It should be the thought that counts. However thats not to say it still isn't nice to receive something fro your special someone. I also don't old by that its all on the boy to do gifts, I think the girl should give the boy something too, even if its just a single rose. The fact that people are more worried about the price tag than the person they are buying for means people are getting to materialistic. Get over the price tag and shop because you love them.
Valentines Day to me is nothing important. it is nice to show that someone special that you love them, but you should do that everyday, not just one day out of the year. Paying a lot of money, more then average is nice but not necessary. And i think that both of the people should buy a girt for each other not just the guy. I think that you should do something special on Valentines but it shouldn't matter how much you pay for it just that your with your special someone.
Even with the economy still having problems, people are spending lots of money on dates and gifts for their their significant other. Valentine's Day is very important in the minds of many people, especially people with strong feelings for their partner. This is very understandable. I found it interesting that men are buying flowers this year more often than chocolate. The one thing that aggrivates me is that it says nearly 50% of women aren't planning to get their man a gift. If you expect get a gift then you should give one. Those chicks aren't worth anything.
I believe that people are to much into how much stuff cost and all that stuff. Spending 100 dollars or 185 dollars doesn't matter if you have it then good but if you don't then just spend time with your significant other. Its Valentines Day that is all that should matter between them.
I think Valentines Day is just another reason to spend money on your significant other. Like seriously ? Why do people need to spend money on their significant other to make them happy ? What ever happened to "Money can't buy happiness" ? I'm not saying be stingy and not buy them anything. Just that going out and spending hundreds of dollars is pretty ridiculous. But hey, I'm just one opinion.
I don't think it's a horrible idea to spend money on that person you love, if you go over the top then yes it can be a waste of money. But you should show more than gifts on this holiday. People are wanting to nuy gifts for their significant other, then let them. I think it should be the thought that counts. I don't think its right that women don't but the guy a gift, thats just wrong.
i cant believe even single people spend 125 dollars on valentines. i understand it though sometimes its easiest to show someone how much you care by spending a little bit of money. and its not like people go out and spend this much on someone everyday. so i dont think it hurts your wallet that much.
I honestly don't see why we need a special day set aside to show someone you care about them. If you really care for someone you shouldn't need one specific day, you should show it everyday all the time. I personally feel there is no need of gifts or flowers or anything like that. If you are going to do something for Valentines day then it should be something you both enjoy and can do together and that comes from the heart. You shouldn't just blow a ton of cash on one date that really has no significance to the couple. Now don't get me wrong i don't hate Valentines Day i just think that people should rethink how much they spend. Do you really need to go spend all that money and go through all that mess of going out and getting the flowers or making the reservations just to show someone you care, one out of the 365 days a year?
It is crazy how much some people spend on valentines day, the price should not matter on a gift, it should be about being with that special person. its nice to show them that you care but you don't have to spend over a 100 dollars to do that.
I believe Valentine's Day should be a big deal. Tons of people think its just a way for companies to make more money, which is probably true. But I personally love the idea of being romantic and showing someone how much you care about them. I don't think Valentine's Day should be all about the money, and to me money doesn't matter. It's not about how much money you spend on your significant others gift. Its about showing the person that you love them and appreciate them. Honestly, I would much rather have a guy surprise me with something creative and not that expensive than have him spend a whole bunch money on me. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I think Valentine's Day should about love and apprectiation rather than money and material things. :)
To me, VDAY is between a corporate and a family holiday. It can be silly at times and open up a new market for local businesses. (Hallmarks in business due to Feb. 14) but also i has some values to it. You can show that one person just how special they are to you :)
To me, Valentine's Day is a day for people to show their significant other how much they care. If people want to go all out and spend money, why not? It's a day set aside for couples to have a special day and spend it with the people they love. Although we may just be coming out of a recession, Valentine's Day is a tradition, and if people want to spend money on spoiling their partner, I say go for it!
I think that Valentines day is a big way for companies that make cards, candy, and teddy bears to make a lot of money for a pointless day. If you truly are in love with someone you shouldn't need a certain day to show it. People should be showing their love for people in their lives all year round and not just one day a year. If you are going to spend all this money for one day then what about all the other days of the year. I think that, instead of everyone racing out to go and get stuff for Valentines day at the last minute like everyone does, I think everyone should spread out the love and do something small, maybe once a month for people instead of going all in on one day.
Valentines day is "the most romantic day of the year" it's been hyped up so much so people buy cards and expensive chocolates. The money doesn't really matter. In fact getting a gift doesn't matter. this "holiday" is supposed be a day to show and declare ones love to another.
I feel this article is surprising. I never knew how much people spent on Valentines Day. Only 12% said they weren't spending anything? I always thought that would be a greater amount. I agree that the holiday is a big deal because every once in awhile it's nice to go out with the one you love. It doesn't matter how much you spend but how much you do to show you care. Money shouldn't be a big factor, but at least businesses are benefitting. It's nice to know our economy is getting better. I hope the percentages keep rising with people spending on Valentines Day.
Valentines Day is a day for couples. I really don't care about how much money is spent, id rather have something homemade and from the heart. And if the price or how much you spent on this fun day really matters than you shouldn't be in a relationship. Money shouldn't be the true thought behind your gift.
I don't think Valentines Day is about spending money on the person you love, it's about spending time together doing things that make each other happy. If buying your significant other something makes them happy then go for it. But personally I would much rather recieve something homemade with thought and love put into it.
I honestly dont see the point in spending a lot of money just for Valentines Day. I mean it is nice to give that special someone a gift and to show how much they mean to you, but you dont have to go all out. To me, how much money you spend on something doesnt make it any more specail. The thought is all that counts.
I feel that Valentines day isn't about the money but about the joy of getting something for your loved ones to represent your love for that person. I dont feel like its a waste of money at all.
Every individual has their own view on Valentine's Day. I think it's a great holiday because it's a time to share your love for others. I think "Sweetest Day," is the holiday that should be deleted. "Valentine's Day-It's the dollar that matters????" says that guys are expected to spend more on Valentine's Day than the woman. 48 percent of woman will not buy anything for Valentine's Day. I think that's sad because I think the woman should put just as much effort into the holiday as the men.
I believe that this article isn't all that surprising. Valentines' day has been a tradition where couples buy each other things to symbolize their love for each other. I don't see anything wrong with that, but it gets ridiculous after a certain extent. If you put a lot of hard work into something, it will have more meaning than something that you buy simply because it's worth a lot of money. In our economy right now, the least smart thing to do is go out and spend a lot of your income just for a gift for Valentine's day.
I think Valentines Day is about love and relationships, more than it is about money. However, i dont think it should be blown out of proportion like it is. People can say how much they love their significant other without spending $6 on a Hallmark Card and $10-$12 on a box of chocolates. Thats ridiculous.. What ever happened to, "Its the thought that counts,"? Not to mention thats its expected of the men to buy something for their lady. To all of the fellas out there, when do we get our holiday? We are expected to buy something for our girls, but when is it the other way around? Haha, i know the girls that read this are going to hate me, but really? Can i save some money? :)
Valentines day is a really good way to appreciate and show the one you love that you care. This is a win/win for you and the economy because everyone is spending money for the people they care about and that is boosting our economy...so spend on :)
To me, the price should not matter. I don't think people should have to go out and buy that special someone a two hundred dollar gift! Valentines Day is all about giving that special someone something special to show them how much you really care and appreciate them. Whether it is a rose or a box of chocloates, the thought is all that really matters!
As a guy i really don't care for Valentine's day. i mean it doesn't have to be about money cause hopefully the person your in a relationship knows you love them. but then again its one of those holidays that kinda is expected to give gifts. But its really the thought that counts. i don't think someone should go and spend a million dollars. :) jus sayn
I don't think that Valentines day is a waste of money. But to a certain extent (price ranges from $125 to $180) it is a little ridiculous. Valentines Day should kind of be a big deal to people. Yeah you should show the person you are in a relationship how much you love and care for them everyday but it;s nice to have that one special day a year where you can put out a little more. And no it shouldn't be all about money, the thought really does matter more than the price tag. knowing that someone actually sat down and took the time to come up with something they thought you would love then just going and buying an expensive iten should mean a lot.
I kind of agree with some of the people in the fact that Valentine's Day is a waste of money. I understand that some people believe they need to spice up their relationships, or go the extra mile to try and get that significant other. But if putting a hole in your wallet is what you have to do to impress somebody, then you have another thing coming. Maybe you succeed that night, but in the long run, it won't work out.
